Second time starting a blog...hehehe

I've been putting this off for quite awhile bcz I was busy (n scared but I realised nobody is gonna see this anyway and its a personal blog so)

Name is Oxera! Based it off my zodiac year and an old name I used. Xera or Ox works just as well. Fun fact, my user is based off my year and month zodiac

I like the colour blue and I change up my layout sometimes so who knows!

I have a lot....like a bunch........but!!!! I have one main fandom that I'm into all year round, the rest are small spikes of interest for a week to a month

My main fandom is A terrified teacher at ghoul school(yohaji).

I have some real hobbies, like clay modelling, writing, drawing(kinda), reading, gaming, cooking, anything that includes sewing

I write fanfiction, I have a time in a year where i start producing fics like crazy (around march to early june)

imagine if grandpa aki is actually a serious guy and it caught ebisu and sano off guard because they were expecting him to act like the rest of the abe family only to find out the old man has that same miserable vibe as kurahashi. the whole mood became gloomy when theyre there.

bonus point if all of the relatives act the same way and its only the haruaki's main family that are sunshine and rainbow

hiii! which yohaji character do you think has the most final girl potential in a horror movie? i feel like haru would make it almost to the end and end up sacrificing himself to save others or something like that. heian douman is a final girl but im not too sure about principal aachan. beniko would be a great final girl imo

feel free to tell me how far you think other characters would make it like who would be the first to die if you want!

Ok, since i dont really watch Horror since I’m a WIMP I had to refresh myself of slasher horror (I do like the stories I just cant handle watching) roles. Also this is gonna be based on the most generic version of a ‘final girl horror’ I can think of…this is gonna be long.

(Also if anyone has any horror recommendations for a wimp I’m all ears!)

First we must categorize placements, then I’ll get into specifics.

Final girl= generally ‘pure’ or ‘not like the other girls’

Suspect = murderous, ‘odd in a non conforming way’ (AKA gay or mental illness or neurodivergent)

Canon fodder = not ‘pure’, ‘funny’, subtly ‘odd in a non conforming way’ but not enough to make your question if they had point in killing everyone

Now that we have a base, let’s get into the meat and potatoes! Almost all the teachers/adults are dying! 

The Principal is a fake out (NOT A SUSPECT) who dies in front of the survivors to make sure they know they were wrong right before the end.

Miki is just gay enough that he doesn’t live but not gay enough to be a suspect. Dies just as we find out we have a killer.

Izuna is a slut (derogatory). Ibara is the girl who dies at the same time as her slut husband (as she would have wanted). Close to the middle is when they die.

Ebisu, Seimei, and Akira are self explanatory.

Kurai is a slut (affectionate). QUICK DEATH where he fights back, after we know about the killer.

Seiryuu is a comedic relief = canon fodder. Byakko is two confident = fodder. Genbu could be that old person who warns they cast, or the character we wish lived thru the opening (yes the Heian trio are the opening deaths)

All the parents are waiting at home for the call that their kids are dead (yes including renren’s dad)

Ranmaru could be a suspect or be the person who had the character arc and dies protecting others, depends on how suspicious he acts (unless he doesn’t lock in, which means he dies QUICK)

Ame dies trying to save haru in a slow death (maybe steam roller that is slowly crushing his legs or the killer got him in a bear trap) dies after we realized that there is actually a killer.

Haru is the last adult alive, the tragic death that probably locks in the final girl if he outlives the others.

Now…Makoto is interesting. He has all the makings of a final girl (innocent and ‘pure’ while also able to lock in for the final fight) but he’s also a policeman. Now the police are either incompetent, corrupt, or used as a power scale. If he dies, he’ll be a sign that not even the government can save you. So either he dies midway or he is the only final girl for the adults. If final girl, he would think that he killed the killer but the audience will question if he actually succeeded, ambiguous ending all the way.

The teens are more/less complicated since some are easy while so are hard. Let’s go rapid fire!

Daisy, Marilyn, kashima, Odawara, Hajita, and Mujina are all too comedic to live long. First deaths where we don’t have to think too hard.

Oota and Akibe are dating so they die quick (if the stay virgins one will die before the other, if not they die at the same time.)

I love her aesthetic, but Koizumi is too feminine to be a final girl. Dies after we realized that we have a killer.

Ogata twins are perverts they die QUICK!

Rensuke is the smart guy who says all the information only to die after. Midway thru at the earliest.

Tamao, Mame, and Toubyou are all too comedic to live but will probably die in an impactful way (like after a confrontation, they die in a loved one arms)

Ogoso is similar to Miki, not gay enough that he could be fodder and not a killer.

Now…unfortunately, Fuji and Yuri are a little two gay to live and just gay enough that they could be suspects (unless we are writing to be subversive or have a grand meaning, the cishet white guy director is killing them. Hopefully the director will use them in a way to beat the  homophonic allegations) if it were written to not be generic, Yuri would be a final girl similar to Beniko (explained later) and Fuji dies in the arms of Ogoso in a very tragic way (unfortunately the skirt killed him)

Maeda is fodder but he’s also gonna get us a lot of fan edits made by teen girls who snuck in to watch this.

Hime is a suspect but only because she is too neurodivergent (and the director has no allegations to stop him from making her the killer)

Kurahashi is self explanatory.

Yanagida would be joke kinda killer, kinda in the background the whole time or ‘was never a mystery on who is killing’ type killer.

Natsumi only can be final girl if she was pushed hard enough (which most are) but if another ‘girl’ raises up she will be early fodder.

Sano, Beniko, and Kuniko are all different types of final girl. Sano is the reluctant final girl. Has all the chops to be but needed the emotional push (would be interesting if ebisu, haru, and Mame were in his movie!), most likely has an ambiguous end. Beniko is the ‘not like other girls’ tomboy version that was a defensive survivor from the start but now doesn’t have anything to lose so she’s killing the killer. Kuniko is the classic ‘pure’, ‘not like other girls’. She has just enough of a personality to give her main character energy. She uses her brain to win (most likely in the movie with Renren and even helps him out). She will either die winning or kill the killer.

It's so bittersweet that a constant point that's brought up despite all the "In the next life" reincarnation stuff that's usually put in a story for comfort is that Haru and Seimei are separate people. Despite all the blurriness between them at times (ie the way Tanamai-sensei has drawn art where you purposely can't tell if it's one or the other), the emphasis on individuality becomes more apparent in the dialogue, especially being something that Haru, himself, believes in strongly.

(Chapter 139 spoilers below cut)

As such, it makes Seimei's circumstances still feel so heavy. On one hand, there's a resolution with Kuzunoha and him being reunited as Kuzuha and Haruaki. On the other, the Seimei we saw a few chapters ago, at least by Kurai's theory, made the illusion of Kuzunoha disappear because that hurt him. No next life is ever going to change the fact that Doujimaru lost his mom and dad. No next life is ever going to change the fact that Abe no Seimei came across as unsettling and dangerous to a lot of people, youkai, and gods alike. In a way, he never could truly escape himself, and I think that's something he had to come to terms with at some point in his life.

Seimei makes my brain run in circles because of how strong he is as the "ghost haunting the narrative" and "came back 'right'" tropes rep for Yohaji. It's incredible how much we learned about him in this arc and yet still have many questions about him and his life. We have point A and point B, but still need the pathway between them. I'm so curious as to his actual thoughts and feelings surrounding his choices and being able to see the life Haru gets to live are.

What kind of experiences and introspection did he have to go through to be okay with walking into his death that he definitely foresaw?

What kind of journey did he have to have to decide to work towards a better tomorrow despite any personal bitterness and resentment towards the world?

What was the rest of the life that belonged to Abe no Seimei alone like?

Tanamai-sensei absolutely cooked a 5-star buffet of a meal with Seimei.

he's been useful for like showing that haruaki had his powers since childhood and knowing that it existed before him, showing how much the class cares for haruaki, and theres prolly more but i dont remember the rest

Anyway, yohaji keeps bringing up the legend that meeting your doppelgänger curses you, even though we know it's not true, because Takahashi practically lives with his, and he doesn't seem to be cursed (he was like that since before meeting Yamazaki).

But then, there is someone who is also referred to as a doppelgänger.

Ame.

And we know that the reason Haruaki didn't get to have a normal student life (and thus has trouble making friends today), is that Ame scared everyone away, thus 'cursing him'.

So yeah. There's that.
