“Just window shopping or can I help?” Albus called out, leaning on the counter with his chin in his hand, customer-service-smirk firmly in place and a teasing twinkle in his eyes. “Sadly not for sale, but I do work on commission.”

—- “Would you be surprised that I’m out of sunscreen already,” Rose wrinkled her nose as she shook out the bottle to get the last drop of lotion. “You don’t have any do you?”
“Surprised it took this long maybe,” Albus murmured with a smirk, digging into an enchanted bag and pulling out a bottle sans label. “All you gingered relations so I figured I’d try a hand at making my own stronger blend.” He held out the bottle. “Er, just...no open flame yeah?”
ascvndio:
Scorpius let out a small laugh, “I’m glad you’re not following their lead,” he said. “The Prophet might think I’m the next Voldemort if I ruined that face,” he mused. The blond couldn’t help but smile. “Shut up,” he said, rolling his eyes playfully. “Oh, you know, just trying to be a make-shift lawyer and looking up if there’s any way to get him out of Azkaban. Honestly, I’m thinking of becoming a vigilante and breaking him out at this point.”
“Need one snake in every family of lions really. Keeps’em on their toes,” Albus replied with an airy wave of his fingers. “Eh dunno. Not sure I’ve many friends on that side of the world these days.” He clicked his tongue and nodded, a little frown pulling at his lips. “Well if you’re going rogue, let me know. I’ll either get bail money up or join you. Depends on the mood really.”
nikolai-nctt:
Nikolai laughed, “Oh merlin, were you the worst person to ask?” he mused. “But kneazles take care of themselves, basically. You just have to have food out for them!”
“Damn near mate,” Albus replied with a shrug. “Let’s just say my place is already enough of a disaster without involving an innocent life in it.” Another shrug and smile. “You’ve a lot you’re trying to get settled then?”

Harry turned to look at Albus. “Can I ask you something?” He leaned back against the counter. “Why the concern now?” He raised a hand in defense, “Not that I don’t appreciate it, but I’ve been doing the same thing since before any of you, save for Teddy, was born.” He shook his head, “I don’t have to be the martyr anymore, no. But I want to.”
Albus bristled a little at that. He probably should have expected the query really. Made sense and all that. He hadn’t always been the most in-tune member of the family when it came to emotions. “I...think we might share a habit of uh...overthinking when we’ve time on our hands?” he ventured, a sheepish smile on his face. “Dunno. Just. It’s been going around up here and figured I’d just...” he trailed off, feeling a flush of embarrassment starting to rise up his neck. “Just. Felt like checking in I think. Letting ya know I’ve not wandered off...”

“We were good practice for your own, Ted,” Albus replied with a laugh. “Best to give you a leg up before chaos came crying.” He nodded, listening as his brother walked though the thoughts around work. Al was jealous of that direction. IT wasn’t always that he had his head on straight, the own thought making him chuckle. But to have that sense of purpose, and to be tied into a profession in that way was something he was severely lacking. “That’s half the battle right? Like…understanding it’s something you want and not just the pressures around you s’gotta feel comforting, right?” He almost wanted there to be an answer there. A reassurance.
“Closest thing you might wanna listen to is that no, I’m not seeing anyone. Just enjoying a little of young life yeah?” He clicked his tongue, fiddling with his bottle a bit. “Honestly, I’m missing uni a bit. Think being in the bars is a last vestige of that. Something that’s…familiar?” He chewed on the inside of his cheek, bangs hanging over his eyes in an all too familiar look for anyone that knew him.
“Yes. Dealing with three teenage boys was such good preparation for raising a girl,” he gave him a smirk. Teddy looked over at his brother. “You asking me that or reassuring yourself?” He gave him a knowing nod. “It is. I think it is especially when you come from my family. Both of my families, I guess. That’s why I always told you lot to call me Teddy and not Professor Lupin like some of the staff started to. I didn’t like the weight that carried on me.”
He snorted. “You don’t have to censor yourself, but thanks.” Teddy lowered his drink and gave Al a teasing look. “Missing school? Maybe you should be the teacher.”
“You’ve met Lily. Sure that’s not a comparable amount of chaos?” Albus replied with a bark of laughter. He winced and looked away for a moment, shrugging one shoulder. “It can be both right? Find myself unsure as hell these days Ted...” He pulled a face at the idea of calling his brother professor. He wasn’t sure he could have ever managed that without bursting into laughter. He shrugged, a small and easy smile finding it’s way back across his face. His brother did always manage to put things into such a nice perspective. “Makes total sense. And I think it made it easier for some of us as well.” He snickered and waggled his eyebrow. “Hey, not everyone likes to hear about their baby brother’s exploits and what he’s known for.”
That was something he’d thought before. It made a curious look cross his face. “Perhaps. I uh...dunno if teaching is quite me though. Like the acquisition of knowledge rather than the imparting of it.” Might make him a little greedy. “I miss learning muggle things too. History and law and politics. Informs so much when you see how it plays into the magical world.” He shrugged again, smiling bashfully. “Dunno. Maybe finding work on that side of the world was my plan. Y’know, before all this went down.”
h-pctter:
“Me and your mum? More like me and your uncle,” he smirked. “Your mum was the one who kept me level-headed and balanced.” Harry turned and leaned against the counter, looking over at Albus. All of his kids had been worried about him to some degree at some point, and he knew he gave them good reason too many times. “Put your focus on making sure your sister is okay for me,” he offered, looking at Al, but his face softened. “I’m okay. I promise.” Harry sighed and took a sip from his mug. “I’ve been dealing with this in some capacity since I was 11. If I seem like something is wrong, it’s probably just because I’ve learned to not be bothered.”
“Dunno. Aunt Hermione says you all made her grey well before her time,” Albus replied with a little grin and laugh. He clicked his tongue and nodded, rolling the mug between his hands ever so slowly. “I can do that,” he murmured, giving a decisive nod. He knew his sister well enough by now to know when to push and when to let well enough alone. Unless he wanted to get punched, and truly sometimes, that was the case. “Yeah well, you don’t have to be the martyr anymore dad. And by don’t have to, I mean you don’t get ta be.” He flashed Harry a look that was equal parts pout and glare. He thinks it came from his aunt Fleur, but really it was just a regular in his repertoire these days. “But I get it...kinda. You do know what you’re doing. Supposedly.”
nikolai-nctt:
“The sanctuary I’m working with is starting a fostering program for knealzes and crups if you’re interested,” he said with a smile. “We’re always overrun in the summer.”
Albus gave Nott a little grin before shaking his head. “Don’t they have me on a list as not-to-entertain? I can barely keep m’self alive, let alone something far more fragile.”
ascvndio:
Scorpius didn’t speak for a moment, just sipping on his coffee. “If you comment on the luxury bags I have under my eyes, I will throw this coffee on your face.”
“I know what they say about my family, but I have a little more self preservation than that,” Albus replied with a little huff. The smirk couldn’t stop though. “Look knock off though,” he teased before raising his own coffee in salute. “So give. What’s got you knackered?”

Nothing like a sibling - Albus & Lily
She nodded at the question of extra sugar, knowing that he would add it in anyway since she would find the whole thing disgusting without it. Lily couldn’t help but to scrunch her nose as he sat next to her, the smell of his coffee wafting over to her. She truly didn’t understand how people could drink it that way. She wasn’t able to drink it at all unless if was flavored and iced. “Are you even human- being able to drink that so easily?” She muttered mostly to herself, though she figured he’d probably have some sort of comment about it.
She shrugged innocently at the comment. Her room being the biggest had mostly been acquired at the fact that she’d taken it over when they’d all gone off to Hogwarts before her. The take-over had been bound to happen and there was really no stopping Lily when she put her mind to it, even as a kid. Though she definitely remember the earful she had gotten when they’d all returned home. “Oh we will not! I’m the perfect angel of the family so they would never kick me out. Plus I adore mum and dad so it’ll all be fine.” She paused, taking a sip of her tea. “I hope.” Her words were certainly an exaggeration but it was easier then mentioning how absolutely embarrassed she was to go crawling back home. Even though she’d left on good terms, the red head still found it slightly mortifying.
“Thought we decided I wasn’t human when we were crawling,” Albus replied with a pithy little hum. He grinned and settled close with his sister, just enjoying the closeness for a bit. The laughter came easy as they referenced their mother, because nothing said Potter household like strong willed screaming matches. “Oh I’m sure it’ll be fine. I’ll have the spare sheets laundered just in case.” He flashed Lily a grin and sprawled just a little more, trying to project as much comfort as he could. Wasn’t the easiest thing for his sister right now, if he had to venture a guess.
“So you wanna smile a bit more before we get maudlin or can I just ask if you’re doin alright?” he murmured, blowing a bit on his mug and not looking her way. She’d held his hand after his last boyfriend, least he could do was offer a bit of solace in the same way.
h-pctter:
“You guys were a handful yeah,” Harry said, distractedly sending a text to is secretary letting her know he wouldn’t be giving an interview to the Prophet the next day. Feeling his youngest son looking at him, Harry looked up. A small smile flickered across his face at the concern, “Now you sound like my mind healer - or your mother,” he teased, setting his phone aside, shaking his head. “Well, this isn’t exactly my first time dealing with this, Al. Trust me, I’ve mastered the art of going out without being seen. No invisibility cloak required half the time.”
He got up from the table to pour himself some more coffee, ruffling his son’s hair as he passed by. “Don’t worry about me, alright? I already have your brother looking at me like I’m a ticking time bomb whenever he passes me at work. I’m fine. I promise.”
“I mean...yeah you’re not wrong. Though I’ve heard some tale of what you and Mum got up to in school. Not sure the fruit fell far from that tree,” Albus replied with a little laugh. He’d been told how much he looked like his dad all his life. But so few got to see how similar they were in temperament. “Merlin if I’m coming off like that, not sure that’s a good thing,” he said with a wince. “I mean...yeah not sayin that...just...” he trailed off with a little grimace. He was worried.
The little squawk of indignation was more reflex than anything, but he narrowed his eyes. “Well ya. How else the rest of us supposed to stay informed?” He rolled his eyes and pushed at his dad’s side. “I gotta put my mind t’something these days. Might as well be useful.”

Never a Dull Moment - Albus & Teddy
“Yeah, I think you three aged me,” he smirked. Teddy raised an eyebrow at his youngest brother, lowering his drink a bit. “Not finding purpose in what you’re doing? You’re young. You still have time to figure that all out.” He shrugged. “It took me a while. At first I thought I was kinda doing the jobs that were safe for me, you know? Teaching Defense because Remus did and it was kinda expected of me, and then being an auror because Dad is.” Teddy shook his head, “But then I thought on it and found the purpose of why I was doing what I was doing that had nothing to do with my dads, but that it was just because I wanted to.”
He snorted and looked at Albus. “I mean, not that I know much about bent wizarding society, but I can be a listening ear if you need or want it.”
Never a Dull Moment - Albus & Teddy

“Eh. I kinda got bored after you, James, and Scor all graduated. I didn’t have anyone bursting into my office every few hours with a crisis of some kind,” he teased with a smirk. Teddy swirled the drink around in his own bottle but didn’t take a sip, thinking over his youngest brother’s question for a moment. “You sound like Mum,” he joked, before shaking his head. “She asks me that every time I see her.” Which wasn’t completely true, but their mother certainly had questioned him more on it since Pandora. “I’m alright. I mean, I think I get Dad’s mindset now that I’m older, you know? Like how when we were kids, he’d just throw himself into work. I think that’s how he copes with stuff. And honestly, I think if I took a break, I’d just be home dwelling on it, so the way I see it at least I’m doing something to keep me occupied that has a purpose.”
Teddy took a sip of his drink before smirking, pulling the bottle away. “Wandering into bars and hitting on blokes - classy.” He snorted. “And how’s that going for you?”
“That’s very true. We were the best bits of that weren’t we?” Albus teased, eyes bright. He loved all the chaos that school had wrought. Or that he had wrought at school. Semantics. He snorted and scrunched his nose at that. “Circe help me. I’ve got both of them speaking through me now? This might lead to chaos,” he replied with a laugh. He nodded, nails tapping along glass as he listened to Teddy, a slow smile crossing his face. “Can agree. I think I’m going a bit mad these days without lectures. Think I understand that working drive a bit more now...” He shrugged. He wasn’t doing near as important or frenetic work as his dad or brothers, but he definitely liked being busy. Having something to fill his time. “Purpose is good. I...” he chewed his bottom lip a bit before throwing a bit of caution to the wind. “I think I’m missing that right now...”
“I’m nothing if not the paragon of bent wizarding society,” he quipped with a waggle of his eyebrows. He enjoyed his dalliances. “At the moment? Smashing. All this uproar has the places packed.” He grinned widely. “Sure you want to know more brother?” he teased.
h-pctter:
“Challenge? As long as I don’t have to deal with you, James, and Ted under the same roof ever again, I think I’m alright,” he teased with a small smirk. Harry shrugged and leaned back against the counter. “Yeah. It’s definitely gotten better over the years as far as how I handle it. I mean, some things don’t ever really go away, but I have a good grasp on it most of the time. The reporters never die down, though. I’m just tired of talking about it.” Harry raised his mug to his lips and shook his head as he lowered it. “If I have to hide out for a few days to avoid it, I’m more than happy to.”
He smirked again, knowingly. “I bet you do. You have more ambition than me, that’s for sure. I question myself daily on why I didn’t just live on my celebrity status after school.”
“Oh I’m not sure we were...yeah that’s utterly fair. Right terrors we were,” Albus admitted, quickly aborting any attempt at making an argument for that being anything otherwise. He snickered a bit at the thought, but nodded. He and his brothers were a fun bunch when in the same space. “Makes sense. You’ve a bit of practice with it by now,” he murmured in reply, eyes flicking across his father’s face, looking for any signs of undue stress. Or more undue stress, depending how things were going.
“Think you’d have gone mad with nothing to do. I know I do,” he replied with a bark of laughter. “Wouldn’t mind a chance to slip into muggle London a bit more. Honestly, I can’t get good coffee in Diagon.” He flashed a pout at his dad. “Hence why I’m stealing yours.” He waggled his eyebrows. “You are uh...getting out some, right? Not just hiding inside? Bad for you dad. Sunlight is good, as you said.”
h-pctter:
“For a second there, I thought you were moving home too,” he teased lightly, nodding as he handed over his cup. Harry raised an eyebrow, not really buying the obvious lie. “I always work from home this time of year.” He leaned against the counter and shrugged. “And with this stuff about Malfoy, it’s easier for me to have a clear head here without being hounded by press.”
He nodded at Al. “Everything alright with you?”
Albus let out a bark of a laugh, shaking his head. “No no, you got Lils back. I think that’s enough of a challenge.” He quirked an eyebrow at his dad, trying not to grin. It had never been easy to lie to him. “Makes sense. Can’t really be an easy time...” he murmured, clicking his tongue a bit. He worried. There was a lot that whirled around his family in ways he really didn’t want to comprehend.
“Oh I’m aces. Bored to sobs now that uni is done but the work isn’t the worst.” He missed his time spent arguing, but his dad might know that well enough. “At least I’m always making new things, right?”
Never a Dull Moment - Albus & Teddy
lvpinpctter:
Teddy smirked and shook his head. “Nah, it was a recent thing.” He ran a hand through his blue-tipped curls. “I liked teaching, yeah. But my real skill is on the field.” Teddy got two bottles of firewhiskey and walked back into the living room andover to his brother, handing him one. “I can spend more time with Iris, too. I was always bringing papers home to grade and with being an auror I just leave the work at the office.”
He snorted. “At the desk? He’s out on the field, always. You think he’d want a break.” Teddy sat on the arm of the chair and shrugged, “Whichever you want to give.”
“You were good at it too. But makes sense. And more time with Iris is never to scoffed at,” Albus replied, watching Teddy closely. He loved his brother to a fault, but he was ever his father’s son. Minimizing was in their DNA. Not that the wizards understood that part really. “Hey, whatever gets you through it right?” he replied, giving a nod and taking the bottle with a grin. The burn was such a welcome feeling, almost too nice. He should probably be worried about that.
“Do you want a break?” he replied with a grin. “You two are cut from the same cloth mate. Might be a mirror look there,” he teased, eyes bright. He shrugged a bit, mulling over his life recently. “Honestly I spend most m’time going from home to the apothecary and going mad. I miss uni and muggle coffee shops.” He pouted just a bit, before flashing the other man a little smile. “Other than that? I’m just wandering into bars and hitting on fit blokes. Y’know. Normal stuff.”
hunterfletchley:
“Potter…bro…we have to educate you on the beauty of margs,” he said, his face serious. “What are you drinking now, hm?” he asked. Hunter buried his face in his hands with a drama groan, “Oh my god,” he said, dropped his hands. “No, mate, because it’s good. I mean, am I a little scared my liver will never recover? Sure, but I’m here for a good time not a long time.”
“Hunter, my dear friend, I’m not sure I want something that specific shade of green,” Albus replied with a flick of his fingers. “I’ve seen that in potions. It eats through copper. So just a pint of lager right now.” He flashed the other man a grin at his pain, amusement clear on his face. But this was so much fun. “Aren’t we all? Well if we’re only here for a bit, best order me one. Though I warn you, if you’re trying to get me drunk, it’ll probably work.”
