Nikolai laughed, “Wait--am I becoming a bad influence? I swear I never used to be like this before,” he said with a playful grin. Nik dragged Xander to where he saw they were serving alcohol. “Is something going on? Or do you want Halloween to be extra fun this year?”

“A skeleton straw? Yeah, I guess that sounds cool. But it’s like a strong drink right, not just like soda?” Xander said dubiously. “Because I cannot be sober on Halloween.”

Nikolai rubbed the back of his neck, “Er...” he trailed off. “I think it was family friendly,” he said. A grin spread across his lips, “Guess that means we’re going to have to find something to spike it with.”
Nikolai clasped his hands together excitedly, “I saw a drink with a skeleton as a straw, we need to find that booth.”

Phoebe rolled her eyes, “No, she’s just worried about you. Next!” She gestured to the person that their time was up with their reading. When the next person sat down, she was shuffling her cards. “What can I do ya for?”

Nikolai marched out of his room to where he told Vincent to wait in his living room. "I seriously can’t believe you,” he said. He gestured to the shirt the other picked out. “I can’t go out in this.” Nikolai’s cheeks were stained pink. “I-i mean, look!” he pointed to the sheer shirt that did nothing to hide his chest and torso. “You can see my--everything!”

Nikolai had finished up a hard job when he was walking down the streets of Diagon to clear his head. He perked up when he saw a familiar head of hair, “Xander!” he called with a grin, skipping up to the other. “Hey. I’m glad I caught you here. Er, did you eat yet? Wanna get something? I could die, I'm so hungry.”

Benji jumped in surprise when he heard the door open but instantly relaxed once he noticed it was only Nikolai. He sat up on the couch and stared at the plant on the table. “Well, it’s not too bad maybe he can be resurrected with a little tlc…or maybe he died because he didn’t like being named after a character in the Matrix.”

Nikolai scoffed, “Don’t insult him like that. Can’t plants hear you? You’re going to make him as depressed as me,” he said. Nikolai brushed back his bangs he hadn’t styled, “I don’t know what tlc is, but anything to keep my little baby alive. He likes being named after the Matrix.”
Nikolai frowned pushing his way into Benji’s flat. He trudged into the other’s living room and plopped on the couch, placing the plant he had in his hands on Benji’s coffee table. “I killed him. I killed Morpheus.”

The club was packed when Nikolai finally came. He had missed the ball drop due to being with his family, but it was fine. This was the part that was really fun anyways--when everyone finished their pictures and their family and time and just wanted to party. He took some shots at the bar to loosen himself up before walking towards the mass of bodies that were on the dance floor. He blinked when he bumped into someone, “Sorry--I’m so sorry!” he called over the thumping base. “Wait--Benji?” he recognized his pink haired friend. “Hey,” he grinned. “Are you alone?”

Alexander rolled his eyes. “I was summoned of course, apparently being in the UK is important for the family image, even though I’m pretty sure literally no one cares where I am.” He pulled a face. “I’d definitely rather have stayed.”

“I get it now,” he said once he finally understood. “I mean, I guess they want everyone to see you two together,” he said. Nikolai bit down on his bottom lip. “I don’t know but...” he glanced around before looking at Alexander. “I think something big is going to happen soon.”
“Don’t be shy,” Nikolai said glancing at the other. He currently had runaway niffler bundled in his arms, “She likes you. I think she was just scared when she realized she didn’t know where she was. Thanks for calling me.”

“Well then don’t make me repeat myself Nikolai, I rather hate having to do that.” Vincent knew that he was being harsh but he enjoyed watching Nik squirm. “You are stumbling over your words again that’s not what we spoke either was it - where is the confidence? A man who looks as good as you should have his shoulders back and his words strong, you are a Nott after all.” Vincent reached out to lightly tap Nik’s cheek, a cheeky grin on his face. “I hope that you put the man in his place, no one should be harassing you. That is my job and my job alone. Why don’t we go back inside, you can show me who it was that was looking for me and perhaps together we can remind him of his manners.” He didn’t wait for an answer, instead hooking his arm into Nikolai’s and dragging them both back inside. “Did he say what it was he wanted me for?”

Nikolai nodded, “Right, yes, of course,” he said. He shoved his hands in his pockets, “Well I can’t help it when you look like you’re going to murder me half the time,” he said. Nikolai scrunched his nose when Vincent tapped his cheek lightly. “I think he wants to get with you,” he said with a small smile. “I mean, he’s obviously drunk and wouldn’t stop hounding me about it.” Nikolai fell in step with Vincent when their arms linked, walking back into the club. “You know, I’m not the type to yell at anyone...”

“Get me drunk all you want to, I’m still going to say no.” Dylan looked up at him, brow raised again. “It’s not. But it’s my mum’s.” He raised his glass to his lips with a hum, “And I’d also like to not walk around with an even bigger target on my back.” He lowered his drink, meeting his gaze. “Oh, trust me. I remember.” Dylan smirked. “But it mght do you some good to add it to your vocabulary for some situations, Nott.”

Nikolai hummed, reaching out to take another glass of champagne from a server. Dylan technically already had a large target on his back. For this crowd, If you weren’t already in, then you were automatically out and they knew. But who was Nikolai to say anything. Instead, the younger boy smiled, “I understand,” he said with a slight shrug. The curly haired boy groaned, “Ugh, I know,” he said. “I should practice on my cute little animals. But it’s so different when someone’s in front of you,” he said with a sigh. “So, how have you been? I’m glad your mom is doing okay.”

Dylan leaned back, thoughtful look on his face as if he was considering it. He tilted his head with a hum. “It wouldn’t. Unfortunately for you, I’m not being very charitable tonight.” Dylan caught his gaze and smirked. “But no, I just got here a few minutes ago,” he replied. “I went to my grandparents and then stopped by a friend’s. Delaying this as much as possible obviously.” He reached for his previously set aside wine glass, “You know you don’t have to, though. No or I’m sorry, excuse me are words you can use.”

“Then you need a few more drinks so you can become charitable,” he teased, setting his own glass aside. He glanced around the room, at least more people were showing up. Nikolai hummed at the other’s words, “I’m going to be honest, I’m surprised you’re here what with this being, ah, not your crowd and all,” he said. The curly haired boy let out a snort, “Now you’re just being cruel. Have I ever been able to say no to anything?”
