I feel like simply calling JK Rowling a transphobe isn't strong enough anymore. Like. This is not your grandpa calling you by your deadname at a restaurant kind of transphobic. This is her wanting to eradicate all trans people (with an extra special hatred towards trans women specifically). This is her trying just that by personally funding transphobic hate groups with millions to push around laws in the UK. It is not hyperbolic to call her a dangerous, genocidal maniac.

It's not about cancelling a problematic writer. It's about literally trying to save lives by denying her as much money and power as possible.

Is it bad to say I don't really like the terms "TME" and "TMA"? Because I feel like transmisogyny affects more than just trans women/transfem individuals specifically.

Transmisogyny is the overlap of transphobia and misogyny. Every transgender person I've talked to has been affected by misogyny in some way. Almost all of the transphobic arguments I've seen involve misogynistic views in some way or another.

Many of us can agree transphobes hate trans women for being women. They belittle them, use femininity to shame them, label them as "porn" or a "fetish", and so on.

Meanwhile, transphobic people also hate trans men for.....supposedly being women?? In their eyes?? Now, of course, trans men are NOT women. That is a solid fact. But transphobes *love* to treat them as confused women, saying they have some internalized hatred or misogyny, making them out to be weak.

You see the pattern? So, so many transphobes love to downplay femininity and use it as the point of attack regardless of if someone is transfem, transmasc, transneutral, etc. Even nonbinary people are affected by misogyny, with insults like "theyfab" existing.

I think all trans people can easily be affected by misogyny, and therefore transmisogyny. It isn't a term that is or should be specific to trans women or transfems specifically.

Yes, there are other transphobic arguments that DON'T involve misogyny, but my point is that "TME" is a useless term when strictly defined as "trans women only!!1!!1!" because trans men are constantly affected by transphobic misogyny aswell.

All of this goes to say that no group of transgender people have it better than another. Quit pushing people out of the community and downplaying oppression experienced by others.

Transmascs/trans men experience misogyny too, end of story — said by a transmasc person who's experienced so, SO much misogyny, even in my own fucking community.

I'm so tired of new labels being made that purposefully exclude others. If the labels were used by one's own choice to decide if they feel they're "exempt" from transmisogyny, then sure!! But 99% of the time it's people denying the experiences of trans men and I'm genuinely so fucking tired of it.

You can go die on the hill that trans men cannot and never have experienced misogyny, but that doesn't make you correct. Unless you are a trans man/transmasc person yourself, do NOT speak on the experiences of what trans men can and can't experience. I won't tell you that trans women/transfem people can't experience this and that, so you are NOT going to sit here and do the same to me and others

if you make up a new gendered binary to sort people into and nonbinary people ask "well where do I fit into this?" and your answer is "that depends on the sex you were assigned at birth" well I dont think thats very good, tbh

Imagine for a moment that we were having a discussion about trans womens struggles.

Someone says something like:

"Trans women are often viewed by society as being predatory men and this stereotype is incredibly harmful to trans women"

This is reasonable and true, it is backed by the material realities and experiences of trans women.

But what if someone responded with:

"Remove the word "trans" from this sentence and it sounds incredibly stupid! Women (cis women) aren't viewed by society as predators! Any trans woman who says she's been viewed as a predator for being a woman must not understand how the world works!"

We can agree that this is a ridiculous argument that ignores the reality of being a trans women in favor of projecting a cis-hetero-patriarchal view of gender onto trans women, while invalidating those who don't fit that framework.

Now take this and apply it to trans men.
