You might have seen this before since I've posted it over 2 years ago before eventually taking down the post. I'm putting it back online properly.
Heat & Heat 2 poster designed, illustrated and screenprinted by myself. 60 x 80 cm AKA 23,6x31,5". You can get a print via this link.
This poster is equally about Heat as it is about Heat 2. It's constructed through mirror play and parallels, divided into two equal parts (image below), mirrored in perfect complementarity, contrasted in both style (detailed vs. smooth) and tone (light vs. dark), representing the two protagonists.
It also consists of two distinct layers (typographic vs. illustrative, with the illustration contained within the title) set against one another through their compositional axes: the typographic layer is built around a diagonal running from the top left to the bottom right (left image below, in red), with the opposite diagonal being secondary (left below 2, in blue). This relationship is inverted for the illustrative layer (right image below — main diagonal in blue, secondary in red).
Finally, all these lines, sections, and layers converge at the center in the form of a medallion falling into water (image below, highlighted in red) — a major motif in Heat 2 that connects the two protagonists, even beyond death. Within the poster, it is the only illustrative element that extends beyond the typographic layer.
His house is in Malibu facing the Pacific ocean. On the other side of this ocean? New Zealand. He faces his ultimate goal, dreaming of finally crossing the water to reach it, but his dreams are of him drowning instead (i.e., not reaching the shore - not having enough time to cross).
Still, he keeps staring and living there. Is it an innate desire for self destruction? Delusional hope? Both?
Vincent, meanwhile, is... a bridge, something that lets one cross a body of water without having to swim and risk drowning.

oh the people saying "I consume content". you are making yourself sound like a customer that binges whatever show is on the front page of your paid streaming service before moving on to the next one. my brother in christ i really do not mean that in a degrading or offensive way i mean to say that you are so much more than that. you are a human being who deserves art and love and emotions. give yourself the respect of calling yourself a human being
