It’s been a hard week, and one of my patients described prison life to me today.

Father asks me for a letter allowing his son to have a cat for emotional support. His son is an infant.
Fun with documentation: Trying to come up with professional way to say, “Patient shaved her buttcrack”
17-year-old girl 3 months postpartum tells me she has baby fever
And I’m back
- after studying waaaaay too much for the PANRE... turns out it’s WAY easier after being in family medicine for a few years, weeee!!!! (also turns out I wouldn’t have had to take it at all, but that’s a whole ‘nother thing.)
- after getting faster internet
Me when someone suggests I pursue an MD after my PA degree:
I am soOoO done studying
HA omg I HATE when people do this. Though, I’m impressed with the 30 second speech I have prepared for this exact question! Because the WORST thing to do is SAY what you are thinking (NO NEVER THAT’S FUCKING CRAZY) and instead say something nice about how PAs and doctors work together and they are two different career paths. #hellafrustrating
Mine goes something like this: "Actually I got into med school and decided I wanted more flexibility in my career and did NOT want a quarter million dollars of debt."
Cue the wide-eyed vigorous nodding.
PA career achievement unlocked: I have a physician on my panel
He came for palpitations. I suggested he cut out caffeine. He’s like
Me looking at 75-year-old lady’s wet prep under the microscope, seeing motile flagellated organisms
“My husband is very... sexual,” she tells me after I break the news.
Patient with insomnia drinks coffee all day long but refuses to reduce caffeine intake because "it doesn't affect me"
Well baby check: Mom asks if it’s normal for her baby girl to “have a hole down there.”
Finding out my drug-seeking patient just got hired as our team’s new MA
My patient’s A1c went from 12.3 to 7.5 in 3 months
Well child check: Toddler still wakes up twice a night... for a bottle of CHOCOLATE milk.
Well baby visit: Teen mom living in car is giving 3-month-old solid foods and refusing vaccinations
I wanna be like “You’ll need this.”
Sometimes this is the best answer I’ve got
My nurse loses her patience and shouts at a fraidy cat teenager, “Honey, you’re not gonna feel a damn thing!”
