An already ironic thing and potentially even more ironic thing that may happen in the future:

You all know how the Canadian staff was found out to have been recording the New Zealand NT during the Olympics, and that blew open a cheating scandal that eventually resulted in the sacking of their head coach Bev Priestman.

Well, Bev Priestman is now coaching the Wellington Phoenix, the only New Zealand-based team in the A-League Women. (Very ironic.) They are doing unprecedentedly well, even sitting second in the league table. Mind you, this is a team that's consistently finished in the bottom half of the table (if not bottom-most) in the previous seasons.

Back to the New Zealand NT: well, they are not doing so well. This isn't news, they are not really among the best teams, but they changed their coach back in 2024 and he hasn't done much to improve their results.

It's occurred to me that what if New Zealand Football decides to hire Bev Priestman to coach their women's national team?

It would be one of the most ironic thing to happen in football.

I can just imagine the headlines. 😅
