I missed Brando in my last photoset. He was my first foster, and consequent foster failure (I adopted him).
Your blog is such an inspiration. I'm striving towards working with rescue animals as well, and it's really comforting to know that there are still good creatures in the world. I wish nothing but positive vibes for your fur family. Love and light.
Thank you very much, that means a hell of a lot to me. They keep me pretty busy, as does the rest of my life, so I'm not able to be on here as much as I would like.
I would definitely encourage you to pursue assisting animal rescue with whatever resources you have available. No act is too small and it means the world to that animal. It also is an amazing feeling to make such a difference.
Its finally spring in Michigan! That means (hopefully) I'll be more active on here.
The two white pits and the blue pit are all available for adoption in the Metro Detroit area. Carly is the pretty, slender female; Dexter is the handsome muscular male; and Frank Sinatra is the blue gentleman.
Please visit www.homefurever.com for more information!
New to your blog and don't have a question - just a thank you. It brought tears to my eyes to see how loved and cared for these dogs are. Thank you, from one misfit/mutt lover to another.
Thank you very much, that means a lot to me. Aside from helping dogs, I would hope my work is an inspiration to others, to be the change they want to see in the world. No act is too small to be worthwhile. Even the slightest of actions add up to do great things, and who knows who you will inspire along the way.

Sorry to all of my awesome followers; caring for my wolfpack of seven isn't leaving a whole of time for social media. But hopefully I can share some more photos with y'all in the near future here. Please adopt, don't shop. I'm caring for three beautiful fosters currently, who are available for adoption through www.homefurever.com.
Some of the Misfits having fun. Connor, the brindle pup is a 6 month old Dutch Shepherd mix who's life was saved by www.homefurever.com. I'm fostering him until he finds his forever home. He's adoptable in the Metro Detroit area. The two Dobermans are the original Misfits.
These two beautiful pitties are adoptable in the Metro Detroit area through www.homefurever.com. The handsome male in the red collar is named Dexter, and he is a sweet boy. The female with the bat ears is Carly, a high energy and even higher affection darling of a dog.
Two misfits exploring Island Lake State Park
Y'all also missed Dexter's 2nd birthday. I couldn't get the whole pack in the frame, but I baked pupcakes for the occasion. Dexter is the handsome man in the red collar. He's an adoptable dog in the Metro Detroit area through www.homefurever.com
I haven't had much time for social media lately. Some things you've missed include a new pack member - Loki. He was a "free to a good home" ad on Craigslist. Now he's a permanent member of my pack. This was our first hike in the woods
Huge thank you for everyone's support. I'm beyond happy to report that Connor is out of the veterinary hospital and convalescing at home. He had a rough start in life, but thanks to his new beginning with Home FurEver, he knew that life was worth fighting for. He's a tough little dude with the heart of a lion, and he beat leptospirosis!
He is available for adoption in the Metro Detroit area. You may have heard about Detroit in the news; I don't think we have 50,000 stray dogs as some folks claim, but I can tell you the need overwhelming. Check out our website (www.homefurever.com) to read more about Connor or browse our other adoptable dogs.
Can't adopt right now? Please consider fostering. Home FurEver can cover food, medical expenses, and other supplies if needed. We just ask that you bring the dog to weekly adoption events. Fostering saves lives! Connor would not be here today if not for fosters!
It doesn't matter which rescue you foster through. Find a local rescue and change a life today!
Why should you vaccinate your dogs?
Because this is my beautiful foster puppy Connor. Connor was rescued from a life as a "guard dog," chained to a fence in Detroit. He was not vaccinated, and was exposed to lepto while living amongst the vermin that call the streets of Detroit home.
He was rescued and integrated into my pack and living a wonderful, happy existence; only to be hospitalized a week later fighting for his life from a TOTALLY PREVENTABLE disease. I encourage you to scroll through my feed to see just what a happy, healthy dog Connor was just a week ago.
The good news is he is responding well to treatments, but it is a long, painful road for him, and an emotionally and financially draining road for all of us associated with the rescue (Home FurEver). If you could spare a few bucks, you can donate to his care at www.youcaring.com/connor
And please, vaccinate your dogs! No dog deserves to go through this. Even indoor dogs can catch diseases like lepto simply by smelling the urine of an infected animal. Could be on a walk or your own backyard. You owe it to your dog.
Onyx was presented to Northwood Animal Hospital on Thursday 9/26/13 for severe burns to his face, head, legs and body after surviving a house fire overnight. The 9 month old pit bull woke up his owners by crying loudly for help, thus saving his owners and their two children. The fire, which the Tallahassee Fire Department believes to have been set intentionally, began at the back of the house where Onyx was kept. He was lucky to survive, but now has to deal with the pain and risk of complications from the burns to his skin & eyes and possible damage to his lungs from smoke inhalation. Northwood is treating Onyx with oxygen supplementation, a cocktail of IV pain medications, antibiotics and eye medications to treat the damage to his skin and eyes from the fire. Onyx has a long road to recovery ahead of him, but we at Northwood consider him a local hero and are doing all we can to help him recover and painlessly as possible. Onyx’s owners were unable to be able to afford treatment for Onyx so Northwood Animal Hospital, Leon County Animal Service Center and others have begun donating services and medications to help Onyx. Northwood Animal Hospital is accepting donations for Onyx’s treatment via PayPal or telephone. All donations will go towards covering the cost of treatment for Onyx. If any funds remain, they will be used by Companion Animal Rescue Endeavor, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, for the treatment and rehabilitation of pets in similar situations to Onyx’s, but who do not have an owner. After these pets have completed treatment they will be adopted out to forever homes. Here is the PayPal link for donations towards Onyx’s treatment: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=33DHZPUB4D4M2
