Earliest rendition of Lady Beth the pirate versus her final artwork. While the beginning of this comic seems like your usual sausage fest, I actually have more plans for female characters than male ones as the story continues. Please note that her adorable expression here is not indicative of her character as a whole; Jeff wasn't aware of what kind of a bad ass she was going to be when I was describing her.

Earliest concept art of protagonist duo Will and Zephyr, followed by their updated, final rendition. While I'm not vegan and a pacifist, it was very important for me to create a character that intentionally went against the grain of how a shonen manga should work, and yet still maintains prominence as a character.

Hello world! This is the inaugural post for the official tumblr for the manga-style graphic novel PageTurner! PageTurner is a collaborative project between Brazilian artist Jeff Santos and American author Andrew Herrera (That one's me!). It represents an attempt at creating a new series with new goals regarding representation, business practices and story telling. I'm excited to bring you along with me on this incredible journey we're embarking on, and even more excited to share our finished work with you. There may be occasional spoilers, such is the risk of following an author, but I hope you'll always remember that no matter what gets spoiled, the journey is what matters. :)
