This is probably my seventh play through of ILB, and I still can’t figure out those damn pipes. I really let everyone everyone drown multiple times like I’m so sorry y’all you don’t deserve this

I honestly can’t decide if ILITW or ILB was better.

ILITW’s cast was amazing. Wonderful. Fantastic. I loved every one of them. Lily is my least favorite of the group but I still liked her a lot. ILB’s cast is alright, but it’s considerably smaller, and Parker and Imogen got on my nerves a lot.

The ILB crew also lacked the depth and perspective of the ILITW crew, as we didn’t get to play as anyone except MC. The ILITW gang’s problems, hopes, dreams, and everything about them just made them feel so real and human. Getting to play as most of them really made them feel more three-dimensional. ILB’s cast just kinda had the player on the outside looking in.

But in terms of scare factor and darkness? Oh man. ILB beats ILITW by a landslide. In the first chapter the MC’s parents are MURDERED and you are forced to look at their blood and gore splattered all over their wrecked home, as well as what remains of their bodies. Then, MC watches a terrifying skeleton ghost drag her new friend underwater to his death. The first chapter.

ILITW was more creepy, but ILB was definitely scary. There was more than one time where I actually yelled “holy fucking SHIT” from the bombshells ILB dropped. Josephine’s first appearance? Oh man. The bear monster in chapter 4? Holy hell. Josephine rising out of the water while MC and Elliot were surrounded? Ooooh my god. Imogen’s horse brutally dying and coming back as a zombie? Holy SHIT. I could go on and on about all this stuff.

Though I’d have to say the twists in ILITW and ILB are pretty equal. I’m typically terrible at predicting twists and didn’t see the “Jane is Redfield” twist coming at all. I was SHOCKED. I did see the “Grandpa doesn’t actually hate us” and “the monster is our grandma” twists but they still shocked me.

Honestly the power the It Lives series has is just phenomenal. It’s been living in our minds rent free for ages. I’d love a new horror series but nothing could ever compare.

I am really glad PB spared Rafael in the end, but it is obvious that they originally intended for him to die and that is an ugly precedent. The one constant has been that LIs have a level of safety. Sure there are LIs that can die, but it has always been at the end of a series and if you don’t choose that LI. Rafael stans weren’t going to be given that choice. He was just going to be taken away, why for drama or because he didn’t make enough money? It is a bad precedent to set. We already have cases where LIs get better writing for their alternative non-LI routes than their romanced one (Luke Harper) and now they were willing to just scrap LIs all together and only changed their mind because of the outrage related to their BLM statement and the leaked transcript. If that hadn’t happened, they would have gone along with it and killed Rafael off in the middle of book 2 and that is awful. LIs should not be disposable. They need to get their act together.

‘it lives beneath still remains the best book in the whole app. and its so underrated its insane. i mean its got the best villain and backstory, most badass mc who literally after killing a guy, says it was a nice night for a swim, TOM SATO, and the nerve system that just adds such a unique touch that you wont find in any of the other books. the group hug alone tops any other group scene from other books.’

ILB remains incredible. I've just started a replay and it's easily as much fun as the first time.
