    A coffee in one hand and her phone in the other, Lynn typed her message furiously as she hurried down the sidewalk. Part of her wished she drove this morning instead of taking the bus, but there was no sense dwelling on poor pre-coffee decisions. Her focus lied with work now. 

[iMessage] Joseph, we need to meet. It’s about the Budden case.

            She paused, just long enough to take a generous sip of her coffee. 

[iMessage] I’m outside the station.

A small buzz caught his attention. His eyes flicked briefly over to his phone to check who was sending him messages: Lynn. Something told him he wasn’t going to get this report done today.

text:[Lynn] - You do realise I have important work to do, yes? text:[Lynn] - I’ll be there in 5.  He sighed, closing the folder and grabbing his notebook, before heading to his car to begin the short drive to the station.

“And if I don’t?” Sebastian laughed. “You can’t just send the truth away, Joseph. You can’t ignore it. You know I’m right, because it’s not just me who told you this before, is it? But instead of doing something about it, you just pretend everything is fine.” He finally turned back to look at him.

“Look around!” 

Seb spread his arms, mockingly taking in the entire apartment. “How is any of this fine? You want to get out, to go home, but you’re too scared to do something about it, and that’s why I’m better than you. Because I did something, even without you. Or-…”

He trailed off, and one of his eyebrows disappeared under strands of brown hair. 

“… maybe you’re staying here because of Kidman?”

His emotions were boiling inside of him, a long festering anger about ready to erupt from his very being; an anger at himself, at Mobius, at this foreign Sebastian in front of him. Every time the man spoke, Joseph grew closer to exploding, so much so that his hand slipped discretely between the couch pillows to grab a stray piece of shattered mirror he’d managed to hide from his bodyguards. It was kept there in the off chance that Mobius would push him to do something truly horrendous - his final option for escape if the situation ever called for it. Now it seemed it might have a different use. When Seb finally turned to face him again, it was for nothing but mockery. As if he’d planned on not helping his best friend. As if he hadn’t been shot and slipped into a coma, the whole concept being nothing but a feeble excuse. But much to his surprise, it was her name that tipped him over the edge. Later he would question what it was exactly about hearing it set him off, but in that moment he had no control, diving on to his ex-partner in a desperate attempt to silence him.

Ayyyy. Just letting you know from the 27th of May I’m being admitted into a rich old person’s retirement home hospital, and although I will have my laptop with me, I will likely be very busy or just generally not up for doing much. This state will be for 3 weeks, and will apply to all my blogs. However, I should be around for general contact on discord and will still be lurking around the website. THE DEVIL HIDES IN PLAIN SIGHT.     as two heavily rusted gates     YAWNED    wide apart, the mouth to eden’s gate opened up. the main road that continued on into the fractured valley had been guarded by appointed militia handpicked by joseph seed himself. beyond the two arms of the gate was a tunnel bore into the mountain, another road block lay on the other side.

Controlling was the first thought that came to mind. Not welcoming, not sincere, but controlling. Perhaps it was his pessimistic view speaking, but never once in his entire career had he been given a tour by a suspect that wasn’t attempting to stray his attention away from something. 

“That is what I’m hoping for. Even so, I’ll be doing my job thoroughly. Then I, and the public, can know for sure, and leave you in peace.” It was going to prove difficult to properly investigate, however. This much he could tell already solely from the extensive protection just to enter. Perhaps they simply wanted to keep people out. That brought up the question of why? The likelihood of overly protective people not being overly secretive was minimal. They were definitely hiding something, whether it was related to his current case or something else entirely.  Joseph pulled out his notebook, holding it his hand, ready to follow. Not a single detail was going to slip by him. “I appreciate your willingness to cooperate. This will make all our lives much easier.”

Booker wasn’t an exactly gentle man. He was very heavy-handed, and didn’t exactly think about putting his companion in more pain. All he was doing was stopping the bleeding- pain was bearable as long as you didn’t find yourself dead.

 “Do you want to bleed out?” He almost growls, giving an audible exhale. He knew it was painful, but they had a mission to do. Maybe it was years of being a soldier that forced him to disregard pain and carry on. His stubbornness certainty didn’t help. “Stop squirming –”

It wasn’t that he was trying to squirm, but that his companion was managing to press on every nerve, causing an instinctual flinch. Was it this bad when he was shot in STEM? He couldn’t remember the repair job being so rough. Perhaps he had just forgotten the true intensity.

“You can still be a bit more gentle without risking me bleeding out. I’m not asking for a lot.” He thought for a moment, mind back on the original task as much as the pain would allow. He knew how to track down the man who shot him and he’d be damned by his boss if he didn’t. But his injury... “Any chance you got something strong on you?”

Joseph’s dominant language is English, but due to his grandparents being only able to speak minimal amounts and his father’s tendency to speak to them in their native language, Joseph learnt to speak Japanese at a conversational level.at a young age. He has most of Hiragana memorised, but struggles with Kanji & Katakna, only knowing the basics such as numbers and his name. In high school he took French as an elective, but would often mix his Japanese inflections into the language by accident. He eventually decided to drop the subject to avoid the failing class being placed in his statistics.
