The fucking worst is that as I get older i completly understand the interest to catch up an unreasonable long time because turns out adults just dont get enough time to hang with friends, so catch up next to the Aldi cheese aisle it is
obsessed w this guy on the elden ring subreddit people have been telling stories about. they were summoning for the hardest boss in the game and came across a sign for a player wearing nothing but a jar on his head called "let me solo her" and when people summon him this dude is pulling the cleanest fucking kills youve ever seen. he came forward on the subreddit and posted a gameplay vid and it is the smoothest nine minutes of elden ring on the planet
if you ever see a summon sign in these games for a player wearing no armour you get that person immediately bc whatever theyre about to do it is going to be insane and you have to see it
Create fake screenshots of Facebook and Instagram posts, Whatsapp and Messenger chat, tweets, fake bills, fake news, magazine covers, etc.
I think people could do with a reminder that this is a thing that exists, and it’s really, really fucking easy to do. It’s so easy there are apps all over the place devoted to making easy fakes instead of photoshopping them yourself, like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nmnclk.fake_app&hl=en_US&gl=US & https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fake.chats.prank.comversations.free&hl=en&gl=US.
And here are even more: https://officialandroidstar.blogspot.com/2020/03/how-to-create-fake-chat-screenshot-or.html.
That’s just the first four Google results, but there are pages and pages and PAGES of this. While the apps or the image-creation instructions are filed under “for pranks!” these are tools that the unsavory can and will use to destroy other people’s lives, careers, reputations, marriages–anything. Everything. Someone can do anything with these tools, and that should scare the absolute shit out of you.
Part of internet security is knowing that these things exist, and the results look just as real as snapshots or screenshots.
Sometimes the internet is a great place. Sometimes it’s not a very nice place. If you read something that seems unbelievable, or horrible, or outlandish. If you read something that doesn’t fit the narrative you knew, then do this: Do your research. Use different search engines. Verify information. Talk to other people.
Sometimes, a fic doesn't have to get published, it can just be a series of messages on a Discord channel, between a dedicated group of friends going "oooh, you know what else would be cool?" continuously over a period of weeks and months :)
my dad, trying to explain the concept of money to me: say you have a sandwich, and i need your sandwich. but i don't have anything to give you. you're not just gonna give it to me.
in elementary school we had. basically an immersive economics lesson that was "playing City," with different jobs and businesses; it was mostly semi-free time for socializing and selling/buying toys and snacks from each other. one of the lessons we were supposed to learn was the importance of paying a small amount of money into health and/or business insurance, because you had a chance of being hit with the Daily Disaster and a huge bill.
anyway, some kid who didn't buy insurance got hit with a "medical bill" early on, so he was supposed to be bankrupt and have to sit the rest of the game out. the 8 year olds were not having it and spontaneously invented crowdfunding so he could keep playing with everyone else.

no, no, come back here and tell me how stupid it is to talk about how the power dynamics inherent to christianity are built upon the rhetoric that failure is unavoidable and there is never enough you can do to make up for it
jane austen is timeless because the line “i’m 27 years old, i’ve no money and no prospects. i’m already a burden to my parents and i’m frightened” is as relevant today as when she published pride and prejudice in 1813 😭

If you don’t love languages, hear me out: my telugu friend had been affectionately calling me, a hindi speaker, “gundi” for 7 months. We didn’t realize until recently that the word has two completely different meanings in Telugu and Hindi, and that we both had completely different interpretations of her affection.
In Telugu, “gundi” means “smol/button/round/cute”.
If you don’t know what this is about, there was a Reddit post about a guy who listened to this song for two years while having sex with his gf and she finally told him she hated it and he was betrayed and heartbroken.
