Starbucks volunteering with and serving the Point of Honor 5K participants. We’ve had the pleasure of serving with this race for years and the profits go to support organ donation, as the organizers daughter was a donor. The recipient of her lungs attended the race yesterday and I had the chance to meet him. Some days you run out to a friends and then go to the store forgetting how absolutely not put together you are. Some days you wear Christmas pajamas and slides with socks to the grocery store to buy cat food and frozen pizzas. & you learn to walk with your head high. Life is messy. I am messy. & I’m learning God can handle the mess. He isn’t afraid of it, surprised by it, nor are His plans thwarted. & he also doesn’t care if I wear my Christmas pjs. If you’re feeling out of it, if you aren’t trusting God with your circumstances, He will meet you where you are. This Christmas I took a “selfie” and I looked defeated- because I am. But I’m also still full of joy. I’ve always been able to feel the deepest of different emotions at the same time. My arm is marked with the Scripture- a time to weep and a time to laugh- and I am doing a LOT of both. But one thing I’m thankful for is this family who took me in and reminded me that heaven is waiting and right now we see in a mirror dimly lit though one day we will see clearly. Things are dim for me right now, and even dark. Darker for others- and that’s why I’m choosing to tell you- because if it’s dark for you, I don’t want you to be alone. Life is hard and scary and Satan is seeking those who he may devour. I’m not going to let him take my smile, even if I’m sobbing at the same time. Jesus has already won and prepared a place for us.
