I was around seven years old when I watched this movie, and from that day onwards, I decided to support younger sibling characters, no matter what. The next day I watched the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe. My whole family denounced poor Edmund, and I defended him against their onslaught. I realised that it's a tough world for younger siblings; you only have two paths ahead, either you've to sell your kidney for your family's sake or sell your family for candy's sake. Loyal, self-sacrificing sibling younger sibling trope > jealous backstabbing younger sibling trope 😒😒😒. The home alone series also validated my younger sibling self a lot. When Sasuke, in early episodes, monologued about killing his elder brother, I supported him wholeheartedly, no questions asked.

so many stories that want to have teeth, politically, but falter because they just can't imagine that poor people could possibly be interesting beyond idk the plight of being a poor people

writing the bourgeoisie into a faceless mass of rhetorical fodder and joke meat lacking an agentive or autonomous narrative voice, for once

besides anything else the thing about so-termed "eat the rich" films is like. i don't believe any of the people writing and producing these things could give me a correct working definition of proletarian

like i don't for a second think rian johnson could describe the economic relationship between himself as creator and the people doing the grunt work (the sort that doesn't pay the $50 million that craig walked away with) in a manner that would convince me of his actual secret salient marxist politics that were hidden away all along

like the most generous possible interpretation of a translation of the stakes of these films into actionable material change would be, like, "tax the rich" and a stronger welfare state in the imperial core. and that's assuming they even have a sense of themselves as translating into material change (They do not)

one reason I love liar game is that kanzaki nao reminds of park gae in. they are similar as in everyone in the story deems both of them as naive and too trusting and kept betraying them repeatedly but they still persevered and didn't change their ideals. (this may seem very generic quality of protagonists, but i hate it when the protagonist becomes worldly wise and cruel; they should stick with their ideals cuz nothing is wrong with them). and when they inspire others through their trust and good will....🥰😇

Omg, I don't remember the plot of the book series, except she had written letters and her younger sister posted them in a fight (younger sisters are cool like that 😎 speaking from real life experience)
