Loss is a part of life. You’ll embark on journeys with people you’ll never see again, and you make peace with the fact that they are only visitors. It’s the ones you wanted to stay who can rip you apart. When you’ve intertwined these people with yourself, you have a tough time determining where you end and where they begin. You don’t just forget their favorite foods and movies, the times you’ve shared, or the future you hoped you would have together. Everything around you becomes a reminder of what you lost. You stop listening to certain songs because all you can think about is how much you miss them. You find a different route home just to avoid your old meeting spot. What people forget to tell you about losing people is that clean breaks don’t exist. It’s as if a page has been torn from the book of your life. The jagged edges remain, taunting you, as you desperately trying to recreate the page that has been removed.
