queerbaiting is evolving, and we should be wary.

i think i’ve seen 3 types of queerbaiting:
1. it’s not even really aimed at us, they show a girl kissing another girl just to be polemic, sexual, portray “experimenting” - they do it as a point to straight audiences and to make the news talk (and i think beronic in the trailer was really this, but ofc thecw knew it’d get our attention. and it worked.)
2. this traditional queerbaiting - they use the subtext and make one scene here and there to make us keep watching, but never deliver
3. and this “neo queerbaiting” where it’s more like a token, that they not only use to oversell the show as “progressive” and say “we care about the gays”, but it’s often used to derail conversations about having better rep “bc how can it be bad?? look, we already have the gays!”
ps: a ship/tv show isn’t limited to one of these types
