Coloured angiogram of the brain of a 48 year old patient after a stroke.
Maxilla and mandible excised for dental identification.
The teeth are the strongest elements in the human body and survive the destructive influences of fire, exposure to the elements and postmortem changes, which is why this is a useful tool when other body identification methods are not possible.
Bolus death in a schizophrenic patient. Note the mouse located in the oropharynx causing the airway obstruction.
Thermal imaging of a heart surgery.
The core of a human body is significantly hotter than the surface of the skin. Note the influx of hot blood into the coronary arteries as the exposed heart beats.

A portrait in blood vessels. Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) is a specialised medical imaging technique used to visualise blood vessels. Here, tangled white tubes represent the major blood vessels of the head, neck and upper thorax. Looking at the uppermost portion of the image, one can see the silhouette of the brain whilst the aortic arch takes the center bottom. All these vessels are hard at work beneath your skin, even as you read this post.
This bluish line around the gums, known as Burton's line, indicates lead poisoning and occurs due to deposition of lead sulfide, the result of a reaction between sulfur produced by oral flora and lead.

The Central Nervous System, containing the brain and spinal cord.

Volume Rendering of a contrast enhanced CT angiography of the supraaortal vessels. Moderate stenosis at the origin of the right sided internal carotid artery.
Cerulean cataracts are opaque areas that develop in the lens of the eye that often have a bluish or whitish color with spoke-like opacities radiating from the centre. They are usually bilateral and progressive, and may be present at birth or develop in very early childhood.
smellslikecadaverine:
Band keratopathy involving the interpalpebral cornea in a patient with pauciarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis and chronic anterior uveitis.
"Head trauma causes a subdural hematoma by tearing some of these bridging veins. Notice how thick the dura is and how delicate the bridging veins are in the image." - from OnSurg. #neurosurgery #neurology #humanbrain #brain #surgery #medicine

Peters Anomaly is characterized by congenital eye problems that occur in the frontal area of the eye known as the anterior segment (the lens, iris and the cornea).
In this condition, development of the anterior segment is abnormal, leading to incomplete separation of the cornea from the iris or the lens. As a result, the cornea is cloudy and thin which causes blurred vision. There is also absence of the Descemet's membrane (a thin but strong sheet of tissue that serves as a protective barrier against infection and injuries).
Symblepharon refers to adhesion, either partial or complete, of the palpebral conjunctiva of the eyelid to the bulbar conjunctiva of the eyeball. Any conjunctival infection, allergic conjunctivitis, trauma or disease with secondary scarring can result in the formation of symblepharon.
