hey friends where is that picture of boromir with the gondor flag except its a pride flag?
Couldn’t find it so I made another because you’re right that it’s a crime and it’s definitely my duty to remedy it
was trying to sleep but this was revealed to me in a dream so i had to wake up and draw it

What's that you got there, Brother Herbert?

Just watched Adam Conover (of Adam Ruins Everything) make such a solid point that I think we should spread far and wide. Yes, having AI write your emails is lazy, sure, but people love being lazy. We need to really emphasize that sending AI emails (or using AI responses on social media, or publishing AI flyers, or or or) is rude.
It's rude. You're making someone take their time to read something you couldn't bother to write. You're telling them they were so unimportant you couldn't be bothered to actually take the time to say something yourself. And frankly, you're lying about it while you're at it.
It's rude.
It's not just rude to make me read something you didn't want to write. It is that you expect me to respond to your email written by Claude. You don't even want me to talk to you. You want me to talk to Claude so that you can make Claude respond for you. It is rude to expect me to talk to a chatbot when I wanted to talk to you.
It's been a while since I said "this person wins the internet", but today it is merited.

This is what that one post was taking about.
You can be as offended as possible about the language used, or you can look at the actual intent behind the words.
This man grew up in a time when trans people used that word for themselves. He probably hung out with a few often enough and just absorbed the language.
He was very much using it in a positive context. The barista he’s referring too is probably the only one that makes his favorite drink just right.
This is why Queer elders get so annoyed with the younger members of the community. Too focused on policing the terms people use while there are far bigger problems we are all dealing with.
#this is all true#baby gays PLEASE learn that the words you scream at people online for are still in active use AMONG OUR COMMUNITY IN REAL LIFE#there are trans people who refer to themselves as trannies & transssexuals. there are lesbians who call themselves bulldykes. gay men who#call ourselves faggots. and it's done not in a self-effacing way but in honest joy and reclamation and it is NOT your place as#self-appointed keyboard warriors to bitch at us to stop. YOU'RE the new ones here. learn the culture if you want to survive.#and make the fucking effort to go meet queer people older than 20 in meatspace for FUCK'S sake#i get that you didn't get the trial by fire that the rest of us got but we'll be goddamned if we're gonna let you tell us we're not allowed#to be in OUR spaces smelling like smoke#old man yells at cloud#queerdom#trans matters#twitter dot com#blog together queue alone
This.
I'm 30something and new(a year and change) to my transition and you can pry tranny from my cold dead hands.
I'm also a gay man and you can pull faggot out of my clenched teeth.
I stood on the outside for decades like an orphan in the rain but I never stopped fighting the good fight as an "ally" and now I'm inside I will say and do whatever I fucking want forever because those words feel right on me.
It's fun and it's sexy and its mine and just fuck all the way off. I didn't walk alone through the dark for 25 years to get here to be told by angry children with anxiety what I am not allowed to do.
This is part of what "kill the cop in your head" means, btw.
Stop looking for Rules to follow or punish people for not following, pay the most attention to actions, intentions, and consequences.

btw.

I didn’t realize haiku bot would say that as
“bee tee duh ble u”
instead of
“by the way”

sometimes people experiencing psychosis and/or mania will come up to you on the street and talk in confusing or upsetting ways. your job is to either have a regular human-to-human conversation with that person or politely leave. your job is not to call 911. do not call 911. you might kill that person if you call 911.
I don't even have the energy to screenshot and respond to your tags- what the actual fuck is wrong with you? "the cops are scared and rightfully so" "mental health calls are the scariest for cops" OH so this isn't about the safety of psychotic & manic people this is about piggy feelings?
and no, actually, this is not USA specific and no, actually, people from other countries should not ignore this post. police violence and sanism weren't invented in the US and they are certainly not unique to here. if you (or anyone) thinks that this bullshit doesn't happen elsewhere then you are not listening.
cops r Some Guy with a Gun
do we want Some Guy with a Gun in this situation? answer is usually "NO"
This is legitimately useful reframing. A while ago I started replacing the word "cop" in my vocabulary with "a man with a gun." It really puts things into perspective.
This homeless person is making me uncomfortable. Should I call [a man with a gun]?
My neighbor is having a loud party. Should I get [a man with a gun] involved?
There are some teenagers skateboarding. Do you think [a man with a gun] would get rid of them for me?
It makes it very clear what you're saying. I can call a man with a gun to threaten or hurt someone mildly inconveniencing me. You're not calling the cops, you're calling A MAN WITH A GUN into a situation that does not warrant a firearm handled by a volatile lunatic who will not be held accountable for his actions.

This is the funniest thing i’ve heard my entire life 😭
Truth xD
This is literally me as a kid. Dad used to have the responsibility of giving out the well reports that came in on the friday night to anyone who phoned for the rest of the weekend. The problem was, on saturday mornings, he was doing the food shopping, so I was given a list of approved callers and he’d leave the well report figures by the phone.
Theoretically I was just supposed to list off the numbers. Except. Very early I started parsing the figures and give my own analysis. Apparently engineers and geophysicists got a bit freaked out by a ten year old going ‘It’s not that good, the flow’s really slow compared to last week, and there’s gas pockets really screwing up the flow in the east pipe judging by the pressure report.’
Dad still got that yelled at him at conferences: ‘This is the fucker who used child labour to do well analysis!’
‘Was it wrong?’
‘That’s the not the point!’
We found him- the 20 year old with 10 years experience

Hm. Interesting. Apparently cortisol production depletes magnesium stores. And I have a lot of symptomatic overlap with magnesium deficiency. And it can apparently help migraine. And ADHD. I think I'm going to try supplementing magnesium glycinate. L-threonate sounds really interesting too as that's magnesium that can cross the blood-brain barrier and apparently is super useful for memory and shit.
this can't keep happening
I reblogged this a week ago because it was funny and because I was about to start taking magnesium supplements and after a few days on a half dose it appears that this may have been responsible for a solid 30% of the problems I have that aren't trauma or stress-related

Happy Glorious 25th of May! How do they rise up
I love this holiday. It feels like both a chance to remember to be principled people, but also a time to reflect on loss and be a little melancholy. I always take this time of year to both reflect on our internal strength and the ability to do the thing right in front of us, and to think about the reality of Alzheimer's and everything that it takes away from us.
It's been about a year since my dad was accepted into a larger group care facility and it seems to suit him better. It's also been interesting to see all the different ways that Alzheimer's affects different people. Some (like my dad) lose their ability to speak in recognizable sentences, some lose sense of where they are and what's going on around them, and some suffer in anxiety where they can't quite place why something feels wrong. It's a devastating disease and so unpredictable at that...
I'm glad I don't know the details of what Sir Terry Pratchett went through with his diagnosis. It's extremely personal and none of my business. But the thought of what might have happened to this wonderful author, this wordsmith of the highest degree hurts my heart.
If anyone wants, please feel free to use this Glorious 25th to donate to the Alzheimer's Association, or any other Alzheimer's charity.

For anyone who is struggling with Alzheimer's or for anyone who has loved ones struggling with it, remember that sometimes the best thing is to take life a step at a time and to do the job in front of you. Happy Glorious 25th of May, everyone.
An oldie, but a favourite.
Happy Glorious 25th of May.
