Pansy tipped her head enough so that the dark locks would shield her eyes. She had fucked up. She’d said the wrong thing, and she’d broken the spell that had been cast between them. Destroyed the web that had been woven.

“I mean, do you hate me for what I did?” she asked. Her voice was no longer sultry, or strong, or sure of herself. Gone was both the popular mean girl of the Hogwarts years and the self-made, disgraced woman.

“I just wanted to protect my friends and family.”
