ISIS just invaded the city of Marawi in Mindanao and they have put a hospital under hostage in the process. 

I do not know how long until the Philippine Army will be able to drive them out, and I do not know if the people escaping from Marawi will make it out alive.

My thoughts and prayers go to the people of Marawi

Hi. I’m Filipino and I just want to clarify something.

The terrorists are called the Maute group. These people are only supporters of ISIS, but aren’t part of the latter. They carry flags with ISIS insignias on them, but they aren’t officially ISIS. Yes, the Maute group is currently spreading violence in Marawi, a city in Mindanao. Mindanao is one of the three largest islands in the Philippines. As of now, Martial Law is declared in Mindanao.

We are asking you to send prayers and thoughts to everyone in Marawi at the moment. A city jail has been set on fire, people are kept hostages… I am currently somewhere safe, and very, very far from Marawi but it pains me to know that a lot of Filipinos in Marawi are struck with fear.

update: Manila Police Department confirm that there was no bombing in Quiapo, but a controlled explosion.
