i still cannot believe how blatantly the academy showed its entire ass when it came to them not giving a shit about animation last night. already the gall of them to frame animation as Just Another Genre and not an art form of its own was enough to raise suspicion and it has been for years but for them to just go “we all know you’re here to see the REAL films get awards and not the KIDDIE cartoons ;) but let’s just get the silly For Kids award out of the way ;) haha so funny isn’t it” was so incredibly disgusting especially in today’s current climate where storyboarders and animators are speaking out left and right about extensive workplace mistreatment from their employers and the debilitating stress put on them to keep their jobs, to the point where having to get sent to the hospital from how much they’ve been overworked is a COMMON thing. all for an entire industry of those people to then get sidelined on live tv in front of millions of viewers because to the academy, what they make doesn’t have any value besides entertaining toddlers and kids. i genuinely hope every member of the academy dies and goes to hell
