DAY 41 - FRIDAY ON MY MIND
Friday is always on my mind.
DAY 40 - DID YOU EVER HAVE A DREAM?
More than one or two. Way too many.
DAY 39 - YOUNG AMERICANS
"Bowie never was a young American - he was born and raised in England. Bowie said that this was the result of cramming his "whole American experience" into one song." (Songfacts.com)
DAY 38 - FAME
"The emphasis on fame itself is something new. Now it's, to be famous you should do what it takes, which is not the same thing at all. And it will leave many of them with this empty feeling. Then again, I don't know if it will, because I think a lot of them are genuinely quite satisfied. I know a couple of personalities over in England who are famous for being famous, basically. They sort of initially came out of the pop world, but they're quite happy being photographed going everywhere and showing their kids off and this is a career to them. A career of like being there and turning up and saying, 'Yes it's me, the famous girl or guy' (laughs). It's like, 'What do you want?' It's so Warhol. It's as vacuous as that. And that to me, is a big worry. I think it's done dreadful things to the music industry. There's such a lot of rubbish, drivel out there." - David Bowie interviewed by Performing Songwriter - 2003 (taken from Songfacts)
DAY 37 - HANG ON TO YOURSELF
Laying on electric dreams.
DAY 36 - SEE EMILY PLAY
David Bowie's genius Pink Floyd cover.
DAY 35 - DRIVE-IN SATURDAY
Enjoy them while they last.
DAY 34 - REBEL REBEL
For me this is an ode to adolescence.
DAY 33 - A BETTER FUTURE
Been getting up to date with The Walking Dead these last few days. Today, while watching, I've still been thinking of my daily post and this song is the result of it. :)
DAY 32 - THE WEDDING SONG
"I believe in magic."
DAY 31 - YOU'VE GOT A HABIT OF LEAVING
Today, procrastinating as I tend to, I did a Buzzfeed quiz about my fictional nemesis, which ended up being Davy Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean. It made me remember David Bowie's actual name was David Robert Jones and that he recorded as Davy Jones at the beginning of his career but later changed it to David Bowie to avoid confusion with another Davy Jones (singer of the band The Monkees). Anyway, long story short, it's time to post something from Davy Jones and The Lower Third.
DAY 30 - MODERN LOVE
It's not really work. It's just the power to charm.
DAY 29 - WILD IS THE WIND
This song isn't originally Bowie's. Can you believe it? I mean, he put some much passion each time he sang it, I somehow always felt and still feel it is his. Such a beautiful love song, hopeful yet melancholy.
"Don't you know you're life itself?"
DAY 28 - CAT PEOPLE (PUTTING OUT A FIRE)
This song has been used, at least to my knowing, for two films. Originally, it was recorded for the remake of a horror film called as you might guess, Cat People. And then, because it is a great tune, Tarantino used it Shoshanna's "getting ready for war" theme, which is Inglorious Basterds turning point. As for me, almost anything related to cats is always a win. :D
DAY 27 - I'M AFRAID OF AMERICANS
A great collaboration between David Bowie and Trent Reznor (another hero of mine). This song is like their love child. :D The video is pretty cool. Once I listen to it, my head doesn't stop playing it again and again. I love it. <3
DAY 26 - ZIGGY STARDUST
Bowie's alter ego. He came up with his screwed up eyes, screwed down hairdo and a God given ass. He really sang and boy, did he play guitar. He played it left hand, jamming good with Wierd and Gilly and The Spiders from Mars. He made it too far. Became the special man.
