A little advice from someone studying extremist groups: if you’re in a social media environment where the daily ubiquitous message is that you have no hope of any kind of future and you can’t possibly achieve anything without a violent overthrow of society, you’re being radicalized, and not in the good way.

If the solution to your problems sounds like “we need a blank slate” it’s a lie. There are no blank slates, and the closest approximation people can generally imagine is “burn it all down and let God/fate/history sort it out”.

That’s not problem solving. It’s barely catharsis, in practice. It doesn’t just create more problems than it solves, it destroys more solutions than it creates.

Put the apocalypse down, and back away slowly.

Real solutions to complex, systemic problems are not so easily reduced to “us good, them evil; kill them.”

- weary from travel, warm at last and wrapped in blankets on a hard wooden floor, the fire softly crackling behind the grate, while wind rattles the shutters and their friends’ slow breathing nearby lulls them

- over and over again into a thin drowse, feverish, sweating and shivering, achy arms and legs too heavy to lift, the cycle broken now and again by the touch of cool damp cloth against their face and a spoon pressed to their cracked lips

- worn out after a long day, head forward onto folded arms laid on the table or desk, hair slipped down to hide their pallid cheeks, as someone lays a sweater over their shoulders with a light touch so as not to wake them

- to the sound of someone singing a song they barely remember from their past, but listening to it makes them smile, long years later - they’ll ask for the rest when they wake up…

purrli - a purr generator! u can customise the sound of the purr and still plays when mobile screen is turned off or u open another app so its good for background noise too!

picrew - im sure most people know about this site already but its worth listing! its a site full of character makers

breathing exercise gifs - these are mostly good for steadying urself but also serve as nice visual stims as well! theres a lot of other versions of gifs like these but this is just a link to get u started

Viridi - an app that lets u grow succulents in close to real time! it has very soothing visuals and music and u can customize the pot, name ur plants, and u can even name a little snail that goes around the pot

#SelfCare - an app made to help ground u and calm u! its also a good app for witches since it includes a digital altar, daily tarot, stuff on moon phases, and some other things!

White Noise Apps - i dont have a specific one to list but many noise generator apps have a lot of stuff to pick from like rain, ocean, wind, etc sounds and a lot of them are pretty customizable!

Neko Atsume - most people already know about this one but its worth checking out if u havent already! u get to collect cute cats and watch them do silly n adorable stuff!
