When Rue is reading the last part of her dads eulogy; it parallels what Fez is experiencing. it’s right after Fez watches Ash be killed.

First she says “I was in the hall when you died”

Then she goes on

“Maybe the reason losing you felt like a movie is because it’s part of a larger story. Maybe one that I could still shape.”

While she’s speaking, the camera is focused on Lexi’s note. It’s being trampled, but it’s intact; unopened. The metaphor is a little heavy handed, but it’s clear.

Fez losing Ash is the catalyst for him to leave the drug business and hold on to Lexi.

It’s also not lost on me that the next scene after ash died is Lexi waking up to find out her dad is in the hospital.

I can see it now: Fezco, Lexi, a shit ton of animals, three adorable kids (two of them named after Ash and Marie somehow), their farm, and their farmhouse with its retro decor. It's the only ending for them that makes any sense😌

i swear my mind is broken but all i can think about is how lexi and fezco started their conversation on two opposite sides of the couch and then as the night progressed lexi kept going back to him and they kept getting closer and closer probably without even realizing they were doing it but the spark and the chemistry was so strong that they were THAT drawn to each other. like you can literally see it on their faces they are so enthralled by the other’s presence. it truly lives in my head rent free you don’t understand.

bro you know what just has me by the throat about fezco? “talking to you was one of the best parts of my whole year” altered the course of my existence. no one thinks this man is very bright or smooth. but here he is saying exactly what he feels—no game playing, no qualms about revealing himself. just lovely and honest in this coy, apathetic era we’re living in. and it wasn’t just “nice talking to you” or “I had a good time” he really pointedly on new year’s eve night said “I have assessed every moment in the past 365 days and just sitting here talking to you truly ranks one of the highest.”

in a jane austen novel he would definitely be the unlikely suitor making the wildest confessions all the girlies would eat up like “I am already a man of few words and now you possess them all”

you putting taylor lyrics in your tags for your last post??? i’ll literally cry right now. peace is such a them song i feel unwell. also as a taylor stan i will say i also get very much cardigan vibes from them and very specifically the line “you drew stars around my scars but now i’m bleeding” (this is specifically in 2x08) because i feel like we got to see a lot him being soft with her and him imagining this much gentler softer future only to have it ripped away in the blink of an eye.

You’re absolutely right about ‘Cardigan’ being a Fez and Lexi song, too. There is actually a gifset by the amazing @fexisfarm that specifically uses the lyrics you picked out for 2x08! That line really speaks to them, because she has introduced him to something soft and bright, and now he has to give it up...

I also think ‘and when I felt like I was an old cardigan under someone’s bed you put me on and said I was your favourite’ is very relevant to both of them
