I find it funny that all these years of being in the fandom the ONLY oc ive ever made is just transfem max. I got too attached so made her Max's twin because she deserves to be her own person.

Space Kid plays slender man on the computer in camp, Max and nikki spend a whole day putting pages on trees around the camp, Poor SK had to sleep in the councillors' cabin for a week.
Who peed in the lake episode, but it's who looked up boys kissing on the shared camp computer. The ending is the same. It was everyone but Max, but he still gets the blame.
(Or it was Gwen, and she forgot to wipe the history (she needed it for the cover of her wattpad fic, it's 2016 man))

I've rewritten this a few times because I know this can be a sensitive topic but, as someone who has experienced they same neglect and emotional abuse that Max has (semi) canonly experienced I feel it can come across as disingenuous and often downright angstporn when people make him a victim of every abuse known to man. (Physical, sexual, ect.)
Like Yes you can project onto your favourite character, and if thats what you're doing this isn't about you, but putting an abuse victim through more "serious" abuse feels like youre disregarding what they've went through as "not enough" for your angst fic, like being neglected isn't enough to make your story worth reading.
and thats just fucked up. Especially when there's characters who HAVE experienced these horrible things who nobody pays attention to—Nurf was raped, Nerris was groomed, Nikki's mom has sex with strange men while shes in the house, Harrison's parents are AFRAID of him...ect
I don't expect,nor want you to reduce these characters to their experiences—but there's more than one "traumatised" camper, honestly I'd say they all are. So why as a fandom do we focus solely on Max.
I know he's the main character, and a fan favourite but he's a ten year old boy trying to make friends and learn how to trust the people he love won't leave. How is that not devastating? I understand at some point as a fandom we didn't fully know the extent of his abuse, but its been years since the show originally ended, and then ended again. You can let go of the weird need to torture him constantly.
also there's no way he isn't getting fed a home??? This is a separate issue but its weird how people headcanon him as poor, like he doesn't call cleaning "peasant work." Also I'm not American so correct me if I'm wrong, but "poor" kids don't go to summercamp, aren't they like really expensive?
Like not to get all personal on this blog, but I was neglected a SHIT ton as a child and have taken a class or two on childhood development/psychology, so I can tell you first hand, he acts like a neglected child, not a child who had been physically/sexually abused. He has no role models.
Nerris would 100% come up with their own dnd inspired tabel top rpg. The rules would be jank, and the magician class would (for some reason) be the worst class by MILES.

About the whole "torn between Nikki being transmasc and being Weird Girl representation, and also she's masc 90% of the time but totally comfortable being fem out of nowhere" thing - I agree entirely! May I suggest "agender leaning girl" Nikki? Like, she's AFAB, raised as a girl, 100% fine with she/her and being thought of as a girl. But her gender identity isn't a big thing for her (she thinks of herself more as a "weird kid" than a "weird girl," and most of all as a wolf), and if someone for whatever reason wants to refer to her as a boy, she thinks "...wait, that's cool actually! Alright, I'll be a boy today!"

being transgender online is so fun especially when you came out peak 2020 because I'm named after a fucking period product. A Maxipad. I didn't wanna go by my "real name" online, so I started going by that as a joke, and people started calling me Max/Maxxie, and now my name is Maxxine. They also called me tampon, but that's not got the same ring to it.
On today's episode of Maxxie projecting onto camp camp characters, Neil stutters when he's overwhelmed. It doesn't happen often but when it does its really bad.
