When I was younger this popped up in our town. We were able to go inside too, which was even better. What’s wonderful about the structure is it’s natural light pouring through, and being filtered by the material. also if I may hop onto this, I REALLY hate when people try to spin “therapists only listen because it’s their job” as a BAD thing. can you imagine if we tried to apply that to literally any other profession?

Not only that but therapists are CERTIFIED. Your girlfriend (and specifically girlfriend cause straight guys seem to have a problem talking about their problems) is not responsible for your issues, it’s unhealthy. What’s going to end up happening is you blaming your girlfriend for your own fucked up probelms. You will lose her, she will feel guilty, it won’t be good.

You wanna talk proven facts? This shit’s been done, son: researcher Dale Spencer in Australia used audio and video tape to independently evaluate who talked the most in mixed-gender university classroom discussions. Regardless of the gender ratio of the students, whether the instructor was deliberately trying to encourage female participation or not, men always talked more—whether the metric was minutes of talking or number of words spoken.
Moreover, men literally have no clue how much they talk. When Spencer asked students to evaluate their perception of who talked more in a given discussion, women were pretty accurate; but men perceived the discussion as being “equal” when women talked only 15% of the time, and the discussion as being dominated by women if they talked only 30% of the time.
Spencer’s conclusion, if I may parahprase: you only think we talk too much because you’d rather we were silent.

One time when I was 14 a couple girls in class accused me thinking I was better than everyone else because I wrote with a fountian pen. Upon explaining that my jr school only let us write with Parker fountian pens and now I have a hard time with anything else I was called a liar because schools wouldn’t do that. When I mentioned it was pretty standard in private primary schools I was called a snob for choosing private over public school. Now I don’t know about you but at the tender age of 7 I had absolutely no say about where I attended school and wasn’t about to get in arguments with teachers over my right to use ballpoint pen.
If people feel inferior or intimidated by your success they’ll find any goddamn reason to make it your fault.
When I was a young teenager, I read an article once on wearing vs not wearing makeup. The journalist and her non-makeup wearing friend swapped their makeup regimes. Naturally, the makeup-wearing journalist concluded that wearing makeup was better. I’ll always remember that she thought that women who don’t wear makeup are claiming to be better than you. More beautiful. More confident. I don’t think that’s a message a teenaged girl should hear, for many reasons. Someone not wearing makeup isn’t an attack on you. It has literally nothing to do with you.
When I was in high school, (a sophomore) people constantly told me not to get a big head. About everything. Nobody congratulated me on being successful in my sport or in class. The only thing they said was “don’t get a big head about it”.
I’m guessing they did this because they thought it would go to my head or that I was already arrogant as it was. But it left me feeling insecure, and like anything I ever did wasn’t good enough.
So I went and sought out approval, and in doing so, people felt I was shoving my successes in their face and was thereby arrogant. When I was looking for someone to say “good job good for you”.
Success does not automatically make someone a prick.
