I forgot to write something for the 7th ep, not like it really matters, I doubt even the people of the future would find any of my words interesting even if it were in the middle of a locked room(crater)

the reason for this is mostly that 7 doesn't have a lot murder solving wise and personally speaking I think most of its twists are easy to spot(Clair section). the difficulty mostly coming from the ability to comprehend them and not get frustrated at the contents therein.
on trinity's. how about that orphanage huh? can't believe that paid off really. same thing with Shannon(you know what I mean) it was really more of a guess that just kind of stuck it out. obviously you cant see everything coming of course. otherwise it is strange how they couldn't be in the same room in 7 my best guess is that its to keep how it works vague. on that train of thought
back in ep3 when EVA(Eva) was killin' people I thought her emotional turmoil was an indication of a split personality for 5 seconds. I don't really know if that's what Yasuda is supposed to have? there's such a degree of depth to their back story, while also being very flawed and easy to crack but the idea of a split personality is-well it just feels like something a soap-opera would do like amnesia(put a pin in this), or demonic possession.
none of this is meant to be well put together as you cant see.
on Kinzo Battler. like work with me here. it feels like they give infinitely more shit to Battler for leaving for 6 years than Kinzo and his bag of tricks. that really bothers me. but that's about it.
on Clair. its meant to be a car wreck in slow motion. or at least that's how I felt for me.
Short piece on ep 8. interactive parts where fun, what a nice way to close things off! I liked that last little murder section too, felt good to try and solve it. I even got it right! (totally didn't guess Gohda first....)
I think Battler is might not be dead. he might be the real Tohya. might have survived since the tons of explosives beneath Rokkenjima are only as devastative as the author needs them to be. he does just disappear during 7 tea party. by the usage of words it doesn't seem like Hachijo has opened Eva's diary but someone has to know about the bank code otherwise it wouldn't have shown up in 3 and that's been the only indication that Auauauau ever knew anything. also amnesia.
or not idk, I think that Ryukishi just wants me to enjoy the ride so...
matters on Erika. If she never appears again and stays dead she might just be my favorite character in Umineko. I still have problems of course, like it how it feels to me like the game (vn) is contorting itself to make her make sense... like
game 5. Eva seals Genji's door, I think that doesn't make sense and its far to convenient for Erika's Natsuhi plan, like work with me its Eva she would seal half the house just to fuck with Krauss to discredit his ascension.
game 6. that whole locked room thing, but not just that more like how Battler got in there, what with Erika murdering half his family etcetc. would Battler, as game master, not see Erika doing this?
everything else I get. Bato wouldn't kill her. from a literary perspective incapacitating her and "killing" everyone is a rehash of ep4. And the truth of the game isn't his to give, so he wouldn't just use it to get out much less hand it off to Lammy to verify.

matters on love games. they kinda don't make much sense unless you figure THE THING out before the end. or at least that's how I see it. since the game is focused on two characters who rejected Beatrice's magic (in their own ways albeit).
point being is that neither of them would have to be playing the game if they weren't the same person. if its physical of course they would have to kill the other.

Im not taking no for an answer this is clearly more important than solving the witch murders.
onmuders(again). Not much of note just more observations. Hideyoshi's death is the only one they never talk about, like no packing tape, no Erika's dog nose. I mean the killer was hiding under the bed, nobody checked. whats odd is that they where hiding in the room that Hideyoshi walked into in the first place.
on 19-man. The Battler being the same voice was clever, a real good way of foreshadowing his turnaround at the 11th hour. from a future perspective its strange that they gave him a voice and not the person trapped in the guest room (ep.6).
on title cards. The lost art of changing title screens should be studied. I love it when title screens change based on progress. my point being that the cliff being the screen is a nice touch, since it gains a sinister air at the end.
on Erika (with passion). So since ep.4 I've thought that the games previous and future are manifestations of the publics collective unconscious creating a suitable reality (Eva=murder/Kinzo=murder). so when Ep.5 happened my first guess was, a really popular novelist writes in a their cool detective oc into the plot(or a similar idea(Umineko=and then there were none)), like how Agatha Christie placed Poirot on the super important super cool Orient express.
funny how it all works out, couldn't have guessed that it was a web-novel though, or that its been that way since ep.3.

mostly detectives. I like Erika about as much as I hate her, peak detectives are always inhuman monsters, with no regard for the lives of the people around them. but also, she is really annoying, and somehow manages to craft the perfect alibi for everyone while also giving ample time for the murders to take place.
the above goes for most of the things presented in Ep.5 like the Decalogue, which really feels like it was only introduced in this part. I do like the idea of using it but also it feels like it contradicts itself, like the 2nd: It is forbidden for supernatural agencies to be employed as a detective technique this feels like it defeats itself but hey! They have a whole section about the Decalogue that did kind of go over my head in regards to the previous games. as per usual human error is nothing if not consistent.
ohyea murders.
Not quite sure why nobody else who knew of Kinzo's death didn't speak up or anyone who correctly guessed it, they just kind of go along with it. and there I was shouting which mansion whenever they mentioned Kinzo being inside of 'The Mansion' really it was all just nonsense.
I don't think it was Battler, only the first 2 murder scenes are possible for him and that's really stretching it for Genji. but at this point in the game it was less disproving magic and in the very least disproving one of Erika's theories.
Battlers truth makes more sense but I feel like it would be really funny if the 1st twilight was pulled off while Erika was being a spider or doing any of her other nonsense.
all she had to do was put tape on Natsuhi's door. all she had to do was move the bodies while no one was looking, she is the detective after all, she can be as weird or intrusive as she wants....
I don't think that's the case, but I do think that Battlers an unreliable narrator but if he isnt the killer than it makes things odd, it maybe puts the letters into perspective, which I think feeds back into what Kyrie was saying about Maria getting the letter no being important, what I'm getting at here is that the letters aren't real

for the difficulty being easy this one sure was frustrating or at least complicated. but hey at least this exists

I'll start from the end and work back up.
on Ange. (I was just writing myself in circles, so it'll be brief. I think that the game isn't asking you to accept Ange's world, but rather to accept that it is hers, the results of her long journey. the same way that you accept Maria's magic, Ange's world is something a smidge more complicated.)
I'd only argue that its asking a bit much to not hate Rosa, Eva's fine tho put some pillow's at the bottom of the stairs. I don't got nothing on Kasumi, but I do still think she killed Ange only to then be killed by Amakusa's Roman Catholic death rays. if not, the year is still 1998...
on Battler. love this guy, the greatest investment ever. The Tea Party was outstanding couldn't think of a better way to end it. I swear that I'm not saying it because of small bombs, or that they touched on some of my own theories. the music for the party was also very cool as is the rest of the music in this game. i liked Dead Angle :)
as far as his identity is concerned idk like I guess the game board Battler is a similar idea to how the Witches work. other than that he is still Kinzo's grandchild, also Beato's questions were supposed to be obviously an easy way out for her.
on Murders. wouldn't call myself a fan of the way that went, more like how its 2 hours and all the villains just go "YOU FOOOOOOOLS!!!" and then everyone died.... idk Ep.3 is a whole thing but I didn't like how the fight scene ended there either but I only noticed that after this point. I get that its just all mind games but I'd rather it just be something last minute trick as apposed to a long con that makes me feel like time has been wasted. (only referring to Jessica & Georges fights not the adults, but y'know Gungnir...)

oh yea murders. everyone who saw Kinzo dies so its all unreliable, plus Kyrie's & the gangs testimony's where maybe done under duress only issue is Kanon, Gohda, & Kumasawa as well as GapGap's powers. George & Jessie were both shot on sight, Maria was poisoned so my bet is she was just told to 'Drink Me'. moving back to problems Kinzo's time of death hasn't been established yet (now for the me who has read that point in Ep.5, its been roughly 2ish years) but the me writing this isn't allowed to know that yet so his corpse lives in the furnace I guess! rolling back to Gaap, the clocks are broken, the culprit ran around the island and broke every clock (hey the Future idk who Knox is but apparently the trapped door might fall under the device X rule? would have been real nice if Beato said something)

It's neat that the game has gone back to a slower pace. My only issues with it are by design, since nobody wants to watch Ange and Marias lives fall apart around them, but it all exists for a purpose. In Ange's case more so. its all about how people are the sum of their experiences or whatever the actual words where in Ep.1
Ange feels like she's an analogue of you, in the capacity that she exists outside of the Game Board and is looking in from the future, using pure hearsay as ammo. can't help but wonder if 1998 is just as affected by the past as the Rokkenjima of 1986 is affected by the Future. (two wine bottles + one Eva)
more on the Future, I was wondering what that Okonogi guys deal was, then he just drops incredible wisdom, something everybody (even me) forgot about, an actual reason to murder your family (whoa). It makes sense really Jessica was blind, it was really my own fault for not thinking to hard on that.

I'll take a fourth for thinking Rosa was misunderstood/a good parent for a minute there too. In the very least I thought she had the capacity to be a good parent. But the idea that she does all that she does to Maria is very, its just very alright?
(I think its funny that Rosa doesn't show up in the First Tea Room, almost implying that her love for Maria is so unreal not even Beatrice could make it real. I hope that Maria can, wouldn't that be nice?)

I don't think that Kinzo is the dead one, my bet was Shannon. This of course not how things are going, Kinzo is leading an entourage and killing his family, its all very confusing. especially since they talk about the fact that Kinzo even has an entourage but not that they are all demons.
only other thing is his title, Goldsmith. I'm probably wrong but like the Witch names being in a caps reminds me of the last time I saw that in Tsukihime with Shiki and SHIKI. its one of those hard to communicate ideas, but it might be something. (I haven't looked all that hard)
is it a bad time to mention that I was never good with riddles, I was only really good at the bargain bin Sphinx types, y'know like, horses name was Friday?

Cleared the 3rd Ep of Umineko. Same time in days as before, but it also could have taken an extra day. whatever. have some time, give or take an hour or so.
I'll take my "fell for it" award. I'll also take an extra since I've been looking at the epitaph for (see above) hours and I thought that it could have been solved without knowing a different language. Ryūsui Seiryōin and his wordplay continue to haunt me.
(nobody will understand that bit, not even me since I still can't understand Japanese)
The fight scenes met any expectations I had. Mahoyo comparison was ended up very accurate. In the end I still feel extremely silly and abjectly shameful.
Another interesting thing was that the mysteries weren't really that bad, at least until the curve balls at the end. either way I'll try to get there. with something, it wont be a very good something.
Eva is everything I expected of her.

As I said the cases where easy. I suppose it was by design, with it focusing on Beato's trick, and EVAtrices cruel methods which don't allow room for complication. the Cat Box allows for mostly infinite solutions so what else was I to do but try to figure out if the individual boards had different killers. Since it was/is clearly Eva but it maybe couldn't have been Eva every other time.
idk what Equal difficulty meant, but it could have been referring to EVA since she is THE WITCH.
speaking of those curve balls, go figure it gets complicated at the servant room again. and its somehow worse, because what do you mean a human murdered Nanjo EVA, what does that mean you can just deny your own existence and then not implode immediately same with 18 people, i just cant fathom what is being missed here, a mid game inclusion? (ignoring Ange) the corpses? since EVA brings that fact up after everyone's dead, & here i thought the curve ball would have been "Eva couldn't Murder George/Hideyoshi" but since everybody gets a Nanaya anything is possible now apparently. who even knows what happened for the first twilight since the concept of an MO was thrown out a window by that point.
yea so I got nothing. no tldr's. What makes it worse is that EVA still said the 'Human could have used magic' in white so she's was still following the rules. its all about as shaky as it was last time for me.

I really like the Furniture scenes. Jessica & Kanon's romance is the kind that I like a lot. whatever that means cause I sure don't know. similar compliments both his and Shannon's encounters with the Witch. the rest is hard to communicate for me so whatever
The fight scenes are appreciated, although this is a sound novel foremost so I'm not sure why I was expecting Witch on the Holy Night. very silly, very shamful.
Rosa is Rosa. comfortably occupying that position of characters I hate while also not hating, in spite of how she is. Nice to see whoever gets the gun gets character development all the same.

ouch. My personal opinion is that 1st's Standard was for the Reader since the main cast don't bother trying, so the solutions have to be easy. The 2nd's Extreme is for both Battler and the Reader since Beato isn't fuckin around and the Real Game has really started.
it really shows. I had a hard time until about the end, in which i maybe figured it out. so, to you i grant semi-unrestrained thoughts on it.

ok so, Servant room murder is basically impossible because they wont tell you what the 'Kanon' was actually, this makes it hard to figured out what even happened in the first place but that's besides the point. the real point is when Beato is breaking down Battler and is going over the 2nd twilight where she counts Jessica's corpse as one of the inhabitants of the room, leading to her softly accusing her of murder enabling Battler to spiral further. this set off alarms in my skull because in my own Beato infused fugue state I confused it for Jessica's corpse being the killer themselves. and i couldn't tell you if this works but it also might apply to the final room where they are pretending to be Shannon's corpse. the problem arises because Beato said Jessica's Corpse, yea like that. so is it still her corpse or is it just an obfuscation by Beto because she isn't lying, but what if its only Marisas because everyone views it as such so therefore it isn't a lie. much in the same way the Fight scenes are "real" it is only a truth being fed to you, YOU by the Witch.
tldr Beatrice=both corpses. the time gap allows this. not sure about servant room murder because imagine making sense

I was thinking I'd be in the 1st one for a month but nope finished it in record time (like 10 days, its a record for me ok?) . I assume that it will only get longer, but I think people have a tendency to exaggerate the length of the VN medium. Like Fate/Stay Night fine, you just have to pace yourself, I know that I do.
Digressing
I think the mystery is compelling for the 1st one at least it does a good job of creating an oppressive atmosphere. Battler is cool! feels very different to the other Mystery protags I've read from. Or maybe that's just an indication of my personal taste in Mystery novels. (Read Zaregoto/Tsukumojuku or something idk)
I found the mystery of a 19th person strange since I see that 19th persons face every time I close the game.

But I'm starting to think Beatrice's "poster girl status" is more of a ruse after the ??? tea party. This is also considering that a person who needs reviving cant really even kill people in the first place.
One of the more interesting parts is how it presents you with what other characters are doing & then accuses them of murder. of course they're innocent but its also impossible to improve. same goes for the closed rooms which as an idea exist to be solved but the existence of the witch makes the possible scenario impossible.
there's probably more here but my only actual guess to the plot is that Beatrice is one of Kinzo's orphans that he has laying around. Other than that I like the character profiles changing around, I wish more vn's had "unnecessary" things like that. Like Stay Night has those & Stay Night kicks ass! granted they haven't thrown anything at me that will require usage of the tips yet but I'm waiting for it...
at any point during Episode 2, Beatrice will be launched into a barrel & I'll be forced to play a bad minigame like Scrabble using that Winchester...

But that's just a fan-made moniker; Truth is, it's unclear where exactly these columns were originally from. They were reprinted in Digital Devil Apocalypse, where these scans seem to be from, and DDA says they originate in ゲーム批評 (”Game Criticism”) magazine, which you may remember from an older post giving a rundown of Kaneko's columns in all the issues of it available on archive.org. But not a single one of those uploads contains a "Creature Feature," so I'm puzzled: Either they are in other, unarchived issues of Game Criticism or the editor of DDA was wrong and they have some other provenance. But, either way, what we do have through DDA is fun and fascinating! There's 24 in total.
Recently finished Gundam: Requiem for a Vengeance a show that I thought would be some variety of a nice in between 00 & the next Gundam show that I wanted to watch. That show was until recently 95's Gundam Wing, if you even care.
That show is now Gquuuuuux.

Well I learned that it was made in Unreal Engine 5 a minute before starting, already a good sign.
ok that's kind of cheating it looks fine, it's just the people that look strange & like fallout 4 npc's. I've never played fallout.
The mechs are where its at though. They do a good job with the on the ground combat perspective & I like that the Gundam is treated as a horrifying beast until the last episode.
the whole show just falls apart when it comes to pacing itself. I haven't written a day in my life so you can trust me. I think they should have just kept it as just one long chase seen, instead of stopping in one place & then doing the GM side quest. which really only existed to introduce the Kid (the reveal was ok I guess).
The Ending might as well have been a text crawl too. not really anything of substance to its themes either. I can at least compliment it for sort of being the better version of "Revenge bad".

I'm only watching Gquuuuuux because it is currently releasing. Would have done the same with G-Witch, but I traded it out for finishing SEED. never have to do it again at least.

now that I'm a fair (8eps) way through s2 & Allelujahs arc is more or less wrapped up until the endgame, I can say for certain that it's length is the only strong point for me. It doesn't overstay it's welcome & wind up just being nothing fights for 24 episodes ending in a very obvious death with all the grace of that one guy from Ideon who got a whole episode for himself before he died. None the less it still plays out very obviously, & ends as expected with a half assed kiss that, if i'm being real, will be the last thing Soma ever does.

On that note of overblowing the even more minor issue is the lack of public response to the world government having a "Peacekeeping organization". The situation that was Celestial Being made the rest of the world being feel alive with all those news reports & what not & now it just isnt there anymore (unless I'm just missing something). The only time such wordly matters get taken note of is the dissolution of Azadistan & Ali Al-Saachez doing the thing.
On the subject on that guy, he's crazy & should be dead but if his character for s2 is just gonna be finishing peoples sentences & being crazy, I guess I'm fine with that.
Same thing goes for that guy who looks to much like Lockon. & the rest of the crew but the issue with them more so lies with everything going back to working order way to easily. I dont want it to take 24eps or anything like that. In the very least the crazy Gundam space people are finally doing something.
Really it's the most interesting thing by a landslide.
