📲 LOGAN -> MILES
LOGAN: Hey, is this Miles? LOGAN: I got your number from my wife, I hope that's okay, she's the PR and Marketing Manager at PSU LOGAN: I heard through the grape vine you play basketball and I've been thinking about starting a faculty team, is that something you'd be interested in? @psumilesbhudson
Okay, so one of my servers asked me today what the weirdest dream I ever had was. I can't really remember many of my dreams, but I did have one about driving around looking for a specific coffee place, and I woke up very certain that that coffee place existed and I still think about it sometimes and want the coffee from that dream. It wasn't really a weird dream, but weird that I still feel like it's a real coffee place that lives just below the surface of my memory.
Anyways, short story entirely longer than it needed to be, I'm Immy, please tell me all of your weirdest dreams that you can remember because now I'm interested.
I worked with a guy in Connecticut that used to say that our dreams meant something, that they all had specific meanings, y'know like if you dream your teeth are falling out it's linked to anxiety over public speaking? He'd make us tell him about our dreams so he could decipher them, weird dude... well meaning and a hell of a firefighter, but kinda weird...
I don't really have dreams, not interesting ones anyway, I'm usually just baking in them. Not sure what that means. But I'm now going to be reading through what everyone else replies to your post, because other people's dreams are always really interesting

ABOUT LOGAN
(tw war related violence)
Logan, adopted in his infancy, is the eldest of the Motta siblings and it’s the role he was born to play. He was an only child for a couple of years, but quickly flourished as a big brother the second his twin siblings were brought home. Logan was a happy and fairly popular kid during his childhood, forever playing the role of protector for his younger siblings, but also never missing an opportunity to tease them and pull the occasional prank. He was something of a jock, playing both hockey and basketball in middle and high school thanks to both his height and natural athleticism, but he also learnt to play the guitar and liked to bake, seen as something of a gentle giant amongst his peers.
When his mom abandoned them, Logan found himself with a lot of anger. He’d tried to help her when she started to spiral initially, to console in her grief over losing their grandmother, but when Stacey took off, it left Logan feeling like he hadn’t done enough to get her to stay and keep his family together. He started getting into fights at school, became sullen and withdrawn, and had, in a fit of anguish and rage at the whole situation, smashed the guitar that his mom had bought him for his thirteenth birthday into smithereens. It was his dad that found him sat on the floor with his knees pulled to his chest, sobbing into his hands and surrounded by the remains of his guitar, and he’d said nothing, instead pulling Logan into his arms and hugging him tightly until he finally stopped crying.
The move to LA was a massive culture shock for Logan, and he became even more protective of his siblings as they suddenly found themselves (despite Al’s best efforts) bombarded by paparazzi and the general public too. Logan also got a lot of therapy to deal with his mom’s abandonment (and a new guitar courtesy of his dad who joked that next time he got mad he should try smashing something a little less expensive to replace), and by the time his high school graduation rolled around he was in a much better place mentally than he once was. Despite his respectable B+ average, Logan really wasn’t interested in academics so rather than heading to college, he looked for an alternative, and settled for joining the army.
Logan became a Ranger, and while being away from his family was a little tough, he took comfort in the fact that his dad was proud of him because really that’s all he’d ever wanted out of life. His first tour of duty was largely uneventful, but towards the end of his second Logan’s company hit an IED in their vehicle and the aftermath was disastrous. Logan lost all but one of the members of his team, took a huge blast and chunk of shrapnel to his left side that sliced through his Kevlar vest like a hot knife through butter, and left him with some pretty gnarly scars. But his injuries were the least of his concern in the moment as he crawled across the sand towards where his friend lay bleeding out, his leg blown clean off, knowing that if he didn’t act quickly he’d lose a hell of a lot more than a limb. Logan managed to fashion a torniquet and did indeed save his friends life, returning home as a hero even if he didn’t feel like it.
He accepted an honourable discharge after six months of recovery and intense physio, having no desire to put himself in the line of fire like that again. He wanted a quieter life for a little while, or at least lower stress, and while it was nice to be back with his family again, LA was entirely too busy and loud for him when all he wanted was a little peace and quiet. After feeling a little listless and lacking in direction now that he was home too, Logan decided to take up an army buddies offer to stay with him for a while in Connecticut. It was far removed from the high stress environment of a warzone and the glitz and glamour of LA, practically suburbia, and while initially bored, Logan found himself landing a job as a 911 dispatcher. It was initially supposed to just be a placeholder job, something for him to do while he figured out what he wanted to do next, it turned out that it was actually something he was quite interested in and passionate about.
He still felt uneasy though, and while he knew some of that was the PTSD he was starting to acknowledge and get help with, it was also partly down to the fact that sitting back and letting someone else do the rescuing didn’t sit right with him. So, he enrolled in the fire academy and took a paramedic course, becoming a firefighter EMT in the space of eighteen months. It was the nearest he came to his army days, and Logan found there was a similar comradery in being a firefighter as there was in being a soldier.
It was on his first run as a fully qualified firefighter EMT that Logan finds himself at the residence of a young woman who was not, in fact, trapped in a burning building or seriously hurt, but is instead a flustered and irritated woman who burnt her toast and couldn’t reach the smoke alarm to silence it. The woman was one Penny Sylvester, and before he left her home he made sure that he gave her his number just in case there was anything else that she couldn’t reach and needed a hand with. They started seeing each other almost immediately, and Logan found that not only was Penny objectively incredibly attractive, she was also sweet and funny, and seemed to understand him in a way that no-one else had ever seemed to no matter how hard they tried. She wasn’t just his girlfriend, she was his best friend too, and maybe that was why he proposed to her in less than a year. They were happy, blissfully so, Logan finding himself with everything that he’d ever wanted: a job that he loved and was passionate about, a wife that he adored, and the promise of a bright and wonderful future in front of him where he’d do everything that he could to be a better partner (and hopefully one day, parent) than his mother ever had been.
Moving back to LA with his wife wasn’t the easiest decision, he loved his company in Connecticut, but knowing he’d be back around his family again helped the transition, as did living with his best friend. Logan settled in easily in his new firehouse, but rather than spend a hundred percent of his time out in the field (mostly in attempt to ease Penny’s anxiety over his job) he decided that teaching Fire Science and Paramedic Studies at PSU would be a great way of giving back to the community and inspiring the next generation of firefighters. But it was in LA that cracks started to show in his relationship with Penny.
You see, Logan had been pushing down a lot of emotions and feelings for a very long time now. He couldn’t put his finger on it for the longest time but there was something… off about him. Sure, perhaps the biggest bone of contention between him and Penny was the fact that he really wanted to be a dad but she seemed to not have any interest in being a mom, but there was almost something about being with her that felt… wrong. Like he was lying to her, to himself every time he kissed her cheek or told her that she was the hottest woman he’d ever met. Penny was objectively incredibly attractive and sexy, and yet Logan didn’t feel that way about her anymore… not that he’d ever admit that out loud.
Still, life in LA wasn’t that bad, and Penny had placated his paternal urges by letting him get their beagle Zoë, so things were pretty good right now. Logan still bakes, still plays guitar, he surfs and plays volleyball, unable to admit that he fills his time with activities and chores to make sure he doesn’t stop long enough to think in any great amount of detail about how messed up his marriage has become. After all, he’s the eldest of his siblings, he’s the one that’s supposed to be leading by example and showing his siblings the right way to do things, and the right way to do things is wife, 2.5 kids, a dog, and a picket fence. Anything less than that would be letting all of them down.

📲 LOGAN -> JONI
LOGAN: Uh... so do you have any tips for when your sister is having a meltdown?? LOGAN: Because I have tried everything I know and she's still screaming [...] LOGAN: I feel like I should clarify I mean Robin LOGAN: Penny is fine, I think anyway LOGAN: She's at work, it's just me and Robin in the house LOGAN: I would like there to still be a house for her to come home to @syljoni
Okay then, in a hypothetical situation that I get sick, which I always do this time of year, what the the best methods to get back to 100% and quick. I can't tattoo with shaky hands and needing to sneeze every five seconds and I certainly can't sing when I'm ill. Anyone have any great advice?
Rest. Seriously, as a medical professional, the best thing you can do is let your body rest. If you try and speedrun being sick or push yourself before you're better, you end up being sicker for longer. It sucks, I hate being laid up with a cold or something, but you have to take care of yourself otherwise it just turns into an even bigger debacle
Quick question for something of an unofficial experiment. if you were an animal what animal would you be and why?
Huh, I bet you're getting some fascinating responses to this post aren't you? I think I'd like to be a German Shepard, we had a couple that worked with us out in the desert, they're really hard working and loyal, wicked sense of smell too. Although that last thing isn't super important to me...
Did anyone else watch the Emmys last night? Disappointing that Mr & Mrs. Smith didn’t win, maybe it would have won if I got the role as John Smith, but oh well.
For those who unfortunately don’t know me, I’m Cooper Anderson. You may know me from FreeCreditReports.Com commercials. Let me know if anyone wants my headshots, and I can give one out.
Oh... I knew I'd forgotten to remind the wife about something... in my defence things have been a little chaotic the last few days. I did enjoy Mr & Mrs Smith tho, it's a shame they didn't get the win. Sorry you missed out on the part bud
Nice to meet you Cooper, I'm Logan. As someone who works odd hours that means I'm up at three, four in the morning I've definitely seen your commercials, that jingle really gets stuck in your head huh?
New school year means I'm incredibly busy, though I somehow had the time to make this page. Currently going through all of these posts and seeing that nearly everyone is introducing themselves. It feels almost juvenile, like we're in high school and doing an ice breaker where we have to tell each other something fun we did over summer break. Amy Duval. She/Her. Lawyer. And most importantly, mom to three perfect little cats. Perhaps you've heard my last names quite a few times (especially around Emmy season), though rest assured I am nothing like Elodie or Alexander. I'm much better, actually. I'm currently going through work e-mails before the new week starts, and I'm already quite done with these complaints. Part of my job is dealing with student complaints/grievances that they believe can be taken to a higher level. Students: not liking your roommate does not call for contacting a lawyer. Complaints and grievances are serious, such as your professor doing something illegal (not giving you the grade you deserve because of something personal, being an absolute creep, etc.) Do me a favor and do not send me you don't like what they've got for food either. Yes, I have gotten that a few times.
What is it with college kids and jumping straight to escalating things?? The number of calls we've had since classes started up that have just been kids thinking they need an ambulance for a cut on their finger or stubbing their toe has been ridiculous. Especially when you have to pay for ambulance rides and all that, I know PSU is for rich kids but still??
Anyway, nice to meet you Amy, I'm Logan Motta, he/him, firefighter EMT/fire science and paramedic studies professor. Quick hypothetical legal question, in the lab during my science lessons, can I use actual fire as long as I keep it safe and controlled?
Well, I suppose with the semester properly under way I should perhaps use this thing... or something. Maeve Flynn-Abrams, computer and electrical engineering professor, maybe you've seen me around with a sword. If none of that rings a bell, hello.
I need to know if anyone else makes questionable purchases in the middle of the night, high and/or exhausted, and if you do, have any of them been stranger than multiple broken toasters and/or multiple bags of black rubber ducks?
They're letting squids teach at PSU now? Did you bring the sword to your job interview, is that what convinced them? It's nice to see you around here Lieutenant, I'm really hoping you remember me, otherwise I just came off as kind of asshole for no reason... just in case, Logan Motta, firefighter EMT, part-time professor of fire science and paramedic studies, former army ranger
I swear to God, I found the best smoothie place you could ever imagine. It's about a quarter mile from the PSU campus. I'd love to get some people and go there.
The guys at the station have been looking for a new smoothie spot since our usual place shut down, how good are we talking here? Because firefighters are weirdly picky people...
Hello hello PSU! I hope everyone had a spectacular welcome back and is having an easy adjustment into the new school year! For anyone who might need a pick me up, I'd like to announce that Second Chance Animal Rescue will be on campus the rest of this week with some four-legged (and two three-legged) friends who would love some visitors. We'll be set up just south of the library every day from noon to two. If you're feeling stressed and would like to play with the dogs during that time, feel free to stop by! Even if you're not stressed and just want to love on them, you are more than welcome too. And if you’re not a dog person, you can also take this as a warning. As much as we love our canine companions, your comfort is a higher concern.
Dogs are so calming, this is a great idea. Do you run this kind of thing outside of campus? And if so, could I persuade you and the dogs to swing by the firehouse sometime, they won't admit it but sometimes the squad needs that kind of destressing activity after some of our calls. I make a mean pan of brownies I can bribe you with?
The fact that summer is already over is kind of sad. However the first week back in classes have been amazing don't you think. I am loving being back in classes and learning new things. I can't wait for my song writing to be better than it has been. Oh and Hi, this is a cool site right? This is so new. I'm Luna Mccarthy, the youngest one and I am a singer and songwriter that is still a loose term right now. However I do have a tik tok which is lunsmcarths which you can see my covers right now. How has everyone's first week been?
I'm trying to figure out if I'm more or less busy now classes have started up again... one the one hand all the kids causing mayhem are back at college, on the other all the frat boys are back to their usual shenanigans so we have that to contend with...
Anyway nice to meet you Luna, I'm Logan, I occasionally teach at PSU, but I mostly work as a firefighter EMT so hopefully (in the nicest way possible) our paths won't cross too much. Should I get tiktok?? I feel like I'm too old for tiktok... I've only taught a couple of classes this week, it should've been more but I got called in to cover a shift at the last minute, but the classes I did manage to get to went pretty well I think
📲 PENNY & LOGAN
PENNY: Do you remember the company we used for the balcony doors? We need to order a couple new slats PENNY: [img attached] PENNY: According to Robin she was "fashioning a shiv"... @paramediclogan
LOGAN: Uh... no, but I can ask Craig if he can take a look?? He does carpentry as a side hustle, he's really good at it LOGAN: You remember how much you liked the dining table and chairs at his place when went for Lorelei's baby shower? He made them himself LOGAN: Did... did she say WHY she wanted a shiv?? Should I dig my kevlar vests out of storage??
