Could you post what you put on your tofu before you bake it? Detailed instructions would be amazing. I love tofu but every time I try to make it - it ends up mush and I never know how to season it. I've never tried baking it however so I want to do that since your tofu, broccoli, rice dish looks amazing.
Absolutely! So if you plan on eating tofu in cubes/squares or any form actually. Make sure you purchase Extra Firm tofu of Firm tofu. Silken tofu is used for smoothies and baking and will NOT hold its shape when you cook it. The less firm the tofu, the more water and âmushyâ it is. So the firmer, the better.
Tofu takes on the flavors that you cook it with. So keep that in mind when seasoning.
When I bake tofu:1) cut a whole in the package with a knife and gently presses the package to drain all the liquid out (be careful not to smash the tofu)2) take the cube out and gently press it with paper towels to remove the excess liquid. You want it to be crispy when you cook it, so remove as much liquid as you can. 3) cut the tofu block into the desired sizes/shapes 4) spray a metal baking sheet with cooking oil5) arrange your tofu cubes on the baking sheet (donât let them touch each other)6) add your seasoning ( when I bake it, i add salt , pepper, and garlic powder, * onion powder is good too)7) bake in the oven @400 for 25-27 min. Remove when the tops are starting to look brown. The longer you leave them in the oven, the crispier they will be. You can also also flip them over half way through if you want.
If you choose to sauté the tofu, let them crisp a bit in the pan and then add sweet and sour sauce, or soy sauce, or whatever sauce you want your tofu to taste like. You can also coat the tofu in a sauce and then bake it.
