There was so much left to learn and tell each other, one reason that it seemed his absence had burned within her soul. It meant that there was a chance for something magical and something she would never find out because of her being placed in this town. But here he was and the chance to finally learn all the ins and outs gave her a new excitement for life and happiness she couldn’t place. Just as she was about to open her mouth to speak, she found her words stolen by someone familiar. It was two of their neighbors, seeming to rush to the first piece of meat they could find. She didn’t like the way their eyes wandered over Parker, the way their body language blocked her out as if she wasn’t there. But just like that his arm was around her waist and she was pressed into his side. Bex couldn’t help but sigh happily, pressing a kiss to his shoulder. She was questioned why she never mentioned her husband, a nervous laugh slipping from parted lips as she explained that no one asked her. “I think we could swing by to it later, right now we have some catching up to do”, she silenced the women. She took Parker’s hand, ushering them around and away from the neighbors all together. “Told you about them, they looked like they would lick chocolate off you if I wasn’t standing right there.”
parker’s eyebrows raised with every second of the interaction. these women were everything that would you imagine in a small town. they were about to bust out the welcome wagon before bexley smoothly intervened, steering them away from the conversation and back into the crowd. “c’mon, it wasn’t that bad.” his gaze dropped down to her features, a laugh slipping from his lips at her expression. “okay, it was. but you have nothing to worry about with the stepford wives of north carolina. i much prefer my own.” his words were teasing and he punctuated them with a kiss to her hair, his fingers squeezing in her own. “okay. show me what i’ve been missing all these months.”
