The Big Apple sure has a very busy underbelly..
From 'Vienna' to 'Piano Man' and 'Zanzibar', Billy Joel has written some of the most loved pop songs in history, but that doesn't stop him f
Apparently Billy Joel has thought a lot about WE DIDN'T START THE FIRE and really isn't sure if he likes it..
From the Far Out Magazine article by Tom Taylor:
Serving as a paradigm to this puzzle is his biggest single, ‘We Didn’t Start the Fire’. It is as vilified as it is timeless. Joel, once again, pitches himself between those two poles. But he shouldn’t. It is a masterpiece of the highest order. In the song, he charts his way through history in an abridged manner that condenses knowledge like microchip science. He weaves his way through manic modern history to arrive at the message that society is simply predisposed to unruly chaos. He pairs this in a postmodern fashion with a maelstrom of synth-driven music to add to the feeling of society’s unstoppable combustion. With a ceaseless tempo, it races into the future, screaming “trouble in the Sueeeeeeeez!” (Only with more eees than our copy editor would allow me). However, it is the inherent contemporary cheesiness of this music that Joel feels hamstrings the clever thesis of the track. Speaking about the much-maligned masterpiece on We Didn’t Start the Fire: The History Podcast, Joel said of his 1989 single, “The only thing I’ve heard about that song from people is, ‘I hate song!’ Some people hate that song.” He continued, “It’s one of the most hated things I ever wrote! And I don’t get the hate.” However, even Joel, in his mild defence, admitted that he is ambivalent towards it, musing that it is clever, catchy, and affecting, but he just wishes it was cooler. Many have had similar thoughts in a more generalised sense. Especially when faced with Joel’s sunglasses choice in the video.
Seriously Billy.. it could have been worse. Just listen to the Fall Out Boy version..
Jamie Lee Curtis' sister Kelly passes away
Kelly Curtis, an actress and the sister of Jamie Lee Curtis, died on Saturday. She was 69.
Jamie Lee Curtis announced her older sister’s death in a Facebook post. She wrote, “A warm aloha to my older sister, Kelly Lee Curtis. She passed away this morning. In her home. In nature. At peace. She was my first friend and lifelong confidant. She was jaw droppingly beautiful, and a talented actress. She played a mean game of hearts, collected turtles, loved her family, nature, music, thrifting, travel, Facebook, and Pokémon Go. She was proud of her Danish roots and Hungarian Jewish ancestry and was a devoted American patriot.”
No it's not really blue.. but hope you all got the chance to peer up at the blue moon last night. It will be the last one for a while..
Everyone is talking about the Mackenzie Shirilla case
The one thing that the judge said during sentencing was interesting.. she predicted the prisoner would not get out of jail in 15 years..
So that makes a story like this all the more poignant:
Nearly three years into her 15-years-to-life sentence for a deadly Strongsville crash, Mackenzie Shirilla has racked up 36 prison conduct reports, according to records obtained by 3News. Records show Shirilla was found guilty in 32 cases and not guilty in three, while one disposition was not listed. When Shirilla entered the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville on Aug. 31, 2023, records show she went months without a conduct report. That changed in May 2024, when she received her first report and was later found guilty of being "out of place."
Meanwhile dad has gotten himself in a jam post documentary.. Steve Shirilla was removed from his position as an art and digital media teacher at Mary Queen of Peace School..
The entire world is talking about the case it seems.. and the parents.
President Trump insults all of the artists who removed themselves from the 250th birthday celebration...
And he names HIMSELF as the headliner for the event..
Welcome to the new 250th George..

NASCAR said Thursday that two-time Cup Series champion Kyle Busch has died at the age of 41. Busch was in his 22nd full-time season in NASCAR and won 63 races in the Cup Series. Busch's family said earlier in the day that he had been hospitalized for an unspecified severe illness.
Ain't that America..
Mark Fuhrman, the former Los Angeles Police Department detective known for his role in the investigation into the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, has died, PEOPLE confirmed with the Kootenai County Coroner's Office. He was 74.
So who thinks the new He-Man movie will an epic disaster and a flop at the box office ? Who doesn't ?
I don't know if you watch the Steve Colbert show last night but David Letterman was on and they were throwing things off the roof to destroy CBS property. It was great!

Disclosure day
The UFO files (the first batch) has been released.. According to most reports, there is much more to come. And Congressman Burchett us hinting that we didn’t see anything yet.. A slow rollout? A cautious disclosure?
Burchett says today’s release will just be a drop in the bucket with a ‘holy crap’ moment to come..
Just some of the news links worth reading to start..
Pentagon begins releasing UFO files and says public can draw own conclusions… Mysterious lights in NASA image taken from moon’s surface… Football-shaped objects dart across sky… Buzz Aldrin unexplained light flashes… ‘4ft aliens in space suits’…
Michio Kaku has said today was a turning point.. a 10 out of 10!
But now that conspiracy theorists who claimed UFOs were real–and laughed at for decades–now can brag that UFOs are real, Alex Jones and others are saying that releasing UFOs are not real and they are a cover for another conspiracy…
The anti conspiracy conspiracy theory..
While there are not files *yet* about Dwight Eisenhower’s supposed meeting with the Greys, there are some older files along with videos in the newly released vault.. We feel there is a LOT more to come.
The linked memo to the Chief of Staff at the Air Force said, at least in 1947, that it was “policy” not to ignore reports of sightings but instead to collect, collate and evaluate..
It is things like this that persist in our thought… NASA videos, astronauts talking about seeing oddities near the moon during landings… government agencies collecting data on UFOs… and all the while, they mocked and lampooned anyone who believed or touted potential alien life.
We will see what future releases bring… The ‘holy crap moment’ maybe.
We miss Art Bell in times like this. Coast to Coast AM, on a night like TONIGHT, is having Connie Willis talk about Sasquatch!? On a day when disclosure happened? Something just isn’t adding up there, in our opinion.
But in the spirit of Art on a day like today, here’s a song to end Disclosure Day 1:
The White House will begin the release of long-awaited UFO files on Friday – months after President Trump ordered top administration officials to get the ball rolling on the out-of-this-world intel, The Post has learned.
The timeframe was disclosed during a West Wing meeting on Thursday attended by Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), a member of the House Oversight Committee’s task force on the declassification of federal secrets.
Ted Turner, the media mogul who cut a brash and vivid figure on the American scene of the late 20th century by dominating the cable television industry, creating the 24-hour news cycle with CNN, and extending his restless reach into professional sports, environmentalism and philanthropy, died on Wednesday at his home near Tallahassee, Fla. He was 87.
