This is from 2013
honestly i have saved a lot of hassle by specifically requesting to be treated by female medical professionals whenever possible
my last male doctor told me, within literal minutes of meeting me, that I wasnāt sick actually and all my problems were just in my head and I was making everything up.
The very next female doctor I went to asked me questions about my symptoms, about how long Iād been having issues, and why I was concerned. And then she wrote me a prescription
One time I was referred to a male infectious disease doctor and he laughed off my symptoms and explained that they were caused by anxiety and lack of sleep. I saw a female PCP a month later and she took a leap and tested me for Lymes. The test came back positive and I was treated before it got bad. I thank her everyday for having the guts to listen to me and take action.
I saw a male physicianās assistant and told him as much as I could about my mood swings. He told me that itās honestly nothing to worry about, we all go through a flux of emotions. I described the same symptoms to a female nurse practitioner, who diagnosed me with bipolar 2 and started treating me immediately because she wanted me to start feeling better.
It terrifies me how many people have stories like these.
I saw a male doctor the day I crashed my road bike and 100% had a concussion because Ive heard your head making contact with a metal pole at 25km/hr is not advised. The male doctor did no tests and said that I really could do anything till my head hurt then maybe stop doing it and that I'm young so it probably isn't a concussion. Two days later I saw a female doctor who immediately took me off screens for two weeks and into a concussion protocol before I could go back to working out.
Media: Itās so hot! Sweltering!! Record breaking heat unlike anything weāve ever seen!!! Who could have possibly predicted this???
Climatologists:

Triathlon did not go as planned. Was crushing my past swim and bike time until some unexpected gravel and alittle too much speed took me around a corner into a pole. So now instead of training I'm healing road rash and my brain from its minor concussion. But already signed up for another one in August! Redemption season starts soon šš“š

in college there are only two moods:
1. i can do this! after outlining everything i need to do, it doesnāt seem so bad. in fact itās very methodical and easy to follow and i can do it.
2. oh my god its happening. its the end for me. i might as well be dead. everything is due now. i was put on this earth to suffer. i have two essays due in 45 seconds and all ive eaten today is half a goldfish cracker. i can only feel pain
also these moods go back and forth every hourĀ
