“happiness is a choice” is a really patronising phrase, but you can’t deny that it holds a little truth. 

instead of choosing to listen to that song that makes you cry, you can watch a funny video or listen to your favourite podcast. instead of wallowing in total darkness in your bed for hours, you can open the curtains and drink a glass of water. instead of bottling up your feelings, you can seek out someone to talk to - a friend, a therapist, hell even venting to a pet or writing in a journal just to get it out of your system might help.

though none of those things will instantly cure your mental illness, addressing and adjusting your maladaptive coping mechanisms in manageable ways is the first and most vital step to making life a little more bearable.

every time i look at the mystery gang i have this like visceral feeling that someone is missing. but nobody ever is. who are they. what happened to them
