I've seen both in fanfic. I've been wondering what the most popular opinion is! Feel free to explain your reasoning, if any, in the comments.

When I was a kid, Ribena (a blackcurrant cordial) was still being marketed as a healthy drink (it was manufactured by Beechams, now part of GlaxoSmithKline), and was given to wee kids in their sippy cups leading to loads of blackened milk teeth. And if you weren't well, it got made with hot water. Yum!

So I think rokassa juice is like the ultimate comfort thing for Cardassians, what you'd give to a kid off school for the day, or have at night with your mama before being going to bed, and because nobody else on DS9 has the faintest idea about the connotations Garak's just necking it down all the time.

And I think it's probably a fruit, but with perhaps just an edge of fermentation to it? Something that communicates ALIEN! ALIEN! ALIEN! at a slightly more than subliminal level, if you're in Bashir's head. Or if you're being in Garak's head, plug in your own emotional connotations. Let the reader do some of the work, I say.

Either that or it's basically a Pot Noodle or a Cup A Soup.

He broke into every bar, café, and restaurant on the promenade to try their replicators!
