Salam! Welcome back. What do you do if you've grown up in a religious household to good parents and went to Islamic school and memorized Quran and your entire family are great Muslims and you love your deen but you've been thru some stuff and you're 20 now and it's been eight months since you last prayed and you're part terrified because you never imagined you'd get here and part...apathetic? And terrified that you're apathetic and questioning everything now. I don't know who I am anymore, Osama
It’s easy to not pray. Just like it’s easy to not brush your teeth. It’s annoying sometimes.
How do you feel in the morning though? How about after a week of not brushing your teeth?
I don’t know what your questions are, but, they’ll probably pass and they’re probably on my index page @ partytilfajr.tumblr.com/index
The point is: think of it like the gym. you don’t work out for a while, you try and go back to full press, you’ll hurt your muscles or whatever.
Come back, slowly. But don’t let your “OMG QUESTIONSSSSSSS” be your excuse. That’s an excuse you use so you can put it off. That’s what questions do.
You think other Prophets didn’t have questions? You think Yunus (Jonah) when he was sitting in the whale, at the bottom of the ocean, he was just having a fun tymez?
It’s about recognition of your Lord even during those periods. It’s what will make you better.
As long as there is some sort of “study” that shows the benefits of eating green gummy bears on tuesdays, we’ll do it, but when it comes to our spiritual health we’re like “ehhhhhh.”
So, c’mon, you know what you need to do, but you tried to go from no praying, to praying 4250825 prayers. Then you got discouraged. And you’re like “oh no! more questionzzzzzzzzzz”
It was hard to go from no prayers to 5. Maybe you got to go to college, and you’re like “I’ve seen things mannnnnnn” No you haven’t. You went to college. Wow, partiez are so LIFE CHANGING (they’re not) and that (girl/boy) isn’t that interesting, and they didn’t change your life, they’re as embarrassing as those clothes you wore when you were first allowed to dress yourself.
Just come back right and that means in a way that is sustainable.
Take care of yourself, insha Allah.
