Nicholas Sparks, Dear John
STARTER CALL!
alright-y, so...
i cleaned out almost all of my drafts because i know that i am going to have zero motivation for them since i’ve been away from madison for so long. i want to try to make her at least semi-active again, so like this if you want a starter.
length will vary, and i might cap at between 5-10 just so i don’t get overwhemled because i still have two other very active blogs.
sweats because my browser logged me out and i forgot my password but AYYY
i changed it. woop!. idk if i’ll be super active here with my two other blogs keeping me busy but i do miss madison again. weh.
*repeatedly pokes both of Madison's cheeks* "Hey, Madi-chan, you almost made me worry, you know? Leaving me all alone like that.~"
The red-head arched a brow at the demoness, “ya don’t have other toys t’ play with? I didn’t mean t’ leave ya alone, but I was busy.”
"What have you been up to? It's been a while." He queried, ruffling up the redhead's hair.
“Th’ usual — gardenin’, workin’, takin’ care of m’ niece. Borin’ stuff, nothin’ ya wanna hear about. What about you? Ya got any good stories for me?”
lies down.
i didn’t think people would miss madison that much?? it didn’t mean to ignore her, but sanji muse is strong. it’s nice knowing people still wanna interact with her. i’ll try to make more of an effort to write on her.
Boris: [ Kisses Madi's baby cheek without her noticing, giving her a grin afterwards. ]
“Boris! It’s been a while!” She hoped that he wouldn’t mind her flinging her arms around him and giving him a kiss on the cheek in return.
"Well if that's the case." And then he presses a kiss to her cheek. "Guten tag."
She had asked for it, but she didn’t expect that he’d actually kiss her — even if it was only on the cheek. “Hello t’ you, too.”
Pokes Madi's face. -Draven
“Y’know, most people say ‘hello’ when they wanna great someone, Drav. Or kiss ‘em.”
“ Forgive me as I do not know at t’e moment. But!- My farsan, ‘e trusts me to defend and forge for a vile now. “
He did remember being with his surrogate father earlier today, but he left for some sort business; leaving the boy on his own, though he was use it the was just left on his own. Never seeing it a dangerous thing, in fact the child seemed proud to said such a thing.
“Defend th’ what-now? The forge? Like... a blacksmith forge?” She couldn’t recall seeing a forge around here, but that only proved to remind her that she still had a lot to see. Living here for more than a couple of years didn’t mean she was familiar with the city, sadly.
Scratching at her head, Madison stared down at the boy.
“If yer supposed t’ be defendin’ it, why are ya here? Did ya get lost?”
Relief flutters through the small figures chest at hearing the news and that she hadn’t come at a bad time. Humans often led what seemed to be rather busy lives from what she’s noticed. Them and their odd metal things ( she’s never seen so many of those wheeled contraptions in her life ) and their various occupations. She thought her group was busy with her being a many plus the ones who guarded, those who hunted and scavenged, and those who collected resources for nests and the hatching season. But humans seemed to mvoe at a faster pace. She’s nearly beens tepped on so many times since she came to this place and had been overwhelmed by the sights and smells. Normally she would’ve explored more but it was hard enough keeping the scent of her beloved human with all the others scents.
Her head shakes at the comment on getting lost. Herself pulling back to point to her nose which was currently twitching and still smelling the air around them. Granted Madisons scent was the strongest given their proximity; however, the smell of flowers and other things has hit her also. Making her poor nose be working overtime to process every individual scent. But she’ll take the faint headache and overwhelming sensation knowing she finally found her human.
Now safe, plus with her, she finally looks around. Tail wagging in a happy fashion and fingers squeeze onto the others arm. So this was where Madison stayed? Where was her nest or den? Ooh, she bet she decorated it with such pretty flowers like she did her own! With grin large on her face she gestures to a nearby building as if silently asking the other ‘what’s that?’. After all you didn’t have anything that looked like that where she lived, nuh-uh!
“Yer nose? Oh! Dang, could ya really smell me from that far away? Wow,” she didn’t bother hiding how impressed she was, “that’s pretty amazin’!”
Although, she had to wonder if it was a good or bad smell she had followed. Madison bathed every morning, and she did surround herself with flowers. If anything, the scent of the shop had to be overwhelming for Elysia. Not only were there a lot of flowers, but she had stocked up on several different kinds recently.
Little fingers pulled her out of her thoughts, her own nose now burying itself between the Pikachu’s ears. She released a small hum, heart thudding in her chest at the pure elation of seeing her friend again. It meant the world to her that the ‘chu would take all this time just to find her, so it was only right that she swear to make Elysia’s visit the best.
“Hmm?” The florist’s attention was drawn to a nearby building, “oh! I don’t work here. My shop’s on one of the nearby routes, but I came here t’ buy some gardenin’ tools. Mine were gettin’ kind of old.”
Madison shifted until the ‘mon was cradled in one arm, knees bending as he lifted up a small bag she had dropped in catching her friend. She swung the bag a little, a new trowel and a new pair of gloves visible through the plastic, “see?”
“H-Happy birthday mom, from your favorite star flower…–”
It seemed childish, but ever since she was younger her mother always called her a star flower. Something that would only bloom at night whenever it felt comfortable. It wasn’t real, but it made her feel special whenever her mother would call her it.
“I m-mean if that’s not too much or anything!”
Despite her embarrassment when admitting such a childish nickname, Hitoka couldn’t contain the smile that had painted itself onto her lips.
“That’s so sweet! It ain’t too much, don’t worry!” Madison always felt the smallest pang of envy whenever someone was able to talk about their mother so fondly, but she didn’t dare let it interfere with her work.
Taking out a small business-like card, Madison quickly scribbled down the note. The tip of the pen lingered on the last letter, lips turning down for a second. She wondered what it was like to have a cute nickname like that, head shaking as she pushed the thoughts aside.
“Here ya go!” She stuck a clear, pronged stick between the flowers and slipped the card into the prongs where it could be seen.
“Well you didn’t say exactly how many you planned to buy in the first place.” If she had there was a high chance it flew right over her head while she was going on explaining about the various popular games. But hearing the clatter of game cases being released onto the floor had at least halted her from pulling out any more.
Easily hopping down onto her knees she made a point of spreading out all the cases across the floor, no attention really being paid to the fact other people may need to walk through the aisle to pass by. Brow had to raise at the one case she soon picked up however. Wasn’t that a game aimed at children to teach them things?
Just to be sure she followed her up, leaning forward and over to stare at the case with a squinty eye. “Gardening Papa? It’s cute and saves getting jabbed by thorns buuut~ It’s really not the same as real plants if that’s what you were expecting.” Yup, she’d clearly played this one too, though not to an extent as much as others she’d picked out.
With games labouring the space in her arms soon after, obviously she couldn’t join in with the cleaning like that. So instead she started leafing through the cases whilst waiting, soon breaking the silence with a loud wail.
“This is it! This Special Fantasy box comes with the limited edition trading card selection!”
“Mmn, ya got a point. I have an actual garden,” she had been so excited to see a video game about garden that she had forgotten what she did for a living. It was still tempting to buy it and offer it to her niece, but she doubted someone as hard headed as that little girl would be persuaded into gardening with a game alone.
Sighing and getting to her knees, Madison began to pick up what remained of the mess she had made. The gardening game was tucked away with the others, eyes sliding up as the girl helping her shrieked. The red-head blinked and stood up once she was sure the games she had spilled were stacked neatly, and now it was her turn to lean over and squint.
“If I got that, would you want th’ card? Never been good at keepin’ those kinds of things, an’ that one’s lookin’ better th’ more ya talk about it.”
He chuckled under his breath as she took hold of his hand, but he didn’t pull it back. If it was honest curiosity that drove her, who was he to deny that. And if it was something else… well it wasn’t likely he would have stopped her then either.
“It kind of did, yeah. But it could’ve been worse I guess. I really wanted it, so I didn’t mind as much as with these.” He lifted his other hand to tap the three thick ink lines running the shaved side of his scalp.
Her next question gave him reason to stall, mouth hanging a little ways open as he drew in a breath. Had he really mentioned that? He supposed it must have just slipped out. Ah well, hiding it now would probably only look suspicious. “They’re sort of like… like brands.”
“I remember gettin’ mine, and it hurt like crazy. M’kind of a wuss, though, so...” Madison shrugged and released the man’s hand with a small chuckle. She was glad that she had picked something she liked seeing whenever she changed clothes, but she wasn’t sure the pain was worth getting another one.
Brushing some of her hair behind her ear and looking up, her eyes followed the tattoos along his head. She wondered what it felt and sounded like to have someone marking your skin so close to your skull, but the thought was quickly forgotten with a shudder. No, thank you.
“Brands? They—— Mmmn.” Madison’s lips curled in when she realized that she might be overstepping. His hesitation had hit her a little late, and her own curiosity may have been blind to it. Poking around wouldn’t do her any good, and she didn’t want to make him uncomfortable, “never mind. They’re neat lookin’, though...”
“SORRY, that’s th’ sweat’f progress ya’re smellin’.”
He brushed his teeth very well today, thank you very much! “REALLY. TRY not ta touch it too much. IT’S… still very much a work in progress.”
Just for measure, he backed away from the touch. Those sort of scritches never sat well with him unless it was from family, and he wasn’t going to start accepting them out of the blue. “THEY’RE prototype color fer now. RAN out’f blue LED lightin’.”
“Oh,” ew.
Thin hands moved away from the ‘costume,’ but her eyes continued to roam from one detail to another without pause. Work in progress or not, it was still impressive how dedicated they were to looking like a real tiger. Still baffled her that they were comfortable walking that way, but they seemed persistent.
“Blue? No, keep th’ yellow. It’s cool lookin’. M’sorry about touchin’ an’ stuff, just... got carried away. Never seen a costume this real before.”
Hibiko waited patiently, smiling at the other seeming to find something that would settle as a replacement. Easily, the princess had no clue what she was doing. Looking over the flowers seemed to just be an impulse thing, or just another thing she was trying to find to keep busy with in her down time.
“-Oh! Wow these are gorgeous.” She cheerfully commented, glancing back to the other flowers she first wanted in comparison for the colors. Truthfully, she likely wouldn’t have noticed the change in saturation unless it was pointed out.
Taking them in her hold, Hibiko quickly smelled them, the smile only staying on her face. “You have more like these as well?”
“Got more in those color, yeah. Got more of just that flower, too. If ya like ‘em, I’ll wrap ‘em up for ya. There are quite a few of that particular flower, though, so let me know now how many ya plan on buyin’. A big bouquet can be hard t’ carry.”
It went against what her boss normally told her about trying to to sell as much as she could to any one customer, but she doubted that the woman would want to carry around a bouquet bigger than she was.
To The Zoo
Shinichi blushed lightly as Madison bumped her, and looking at her friend she smiled. “Don’t mention it, I’m having a lot of fun as well.” Holding her arm she stared at the line as it grew shorter. Today had been great, and she felt relieved Madison was enjoying herself as much as she was.
“I know a really nice restaurant we could visit afterwards. My treat.” Smiling at her friend again she really hoped Maddie would like the place as much as she liked her visit to the zoo.
Madison almost felt spoiled with how kind Shinichi was being to her, her expression becoming blank when offered to be taken someplace to eat. She almost refused right away just so she didn’t burden the woman any more than she already had, but she kept her mouth shut long enough to think of a decent reply.
“Thank you, that’s be great. But are you sure you don’t want me to help pay?”
