Connecting eM Client v5 for Windows to Backstage XMPP (chat)

Launch eM Client and select “Accounts” from the Tools menu bar.

Next, select New Account...

and choose XMPP / Jabber from the Chat menu

From here you simply need to select to use an existing account and click next

then fill in your Backstage account details.  Remember that the Jabber ID is your full email address, unlike your username which does not include the @domain.com portion, and your host is torusoft.com

Now give your account a name

then click Finish

When you are returned to the account settings you will need to change the port to 5223 and check the “Use legacy SSL” box.

Chat will now populate on the right pane. If you click the settings cog you can choose to “pop out” your chat window.

Enjoy collaborative chatting with your coworkers via Backstage.

Connecting MailBird to Backstage Mail and Contacts

MailBird is quickly becoming the preferred email browser for Windows, with its large array of Social Media integration and speed reading options.

You can download MailBird free at https://www.getmailbird.com/

Once downloaded and installed, we can begin by following the “add account” prompt

Simply fill in your Backstage account credentials

Once you have filled in your name and email address, click Continue

Automatic configuration will not complete, and you will be prompted with a manual configuration window.  Please provide the details of your Backstage account.  All other settings should match the picture above.

Once the email server configuration has been completed you will be prompted to connect your favorite apps.  This is where you can add your Backstage Contacts list.  Then click continue to complete configuration.

You are now ready to access your Backstage email and contacts using MailBird.

Connecting Outlook 2016 for Windows to Backstage Mail

Launch Outlook 2016 - if this is your current email client, click “File” and choose “Add account” next to the large green plus.  If you are new to Outlook 2016, you will simply be prompted to create a new account.

Simply click “next”

Here we see the “add account” screen.  Simply click next

At the auto-configuration screen choose “manual setup” and select “next”

Use the “Exchange ActiveSync compatible service” option to allow your system to connect to Backstage

In the manual configuration pane you can fill in all the details provided to you. Remember that your username and email address are not the same (no @torusoft.com required for User Name)

Outlook will test the server settings before it allows you to proceed.  This should only take a few seconds

You are now ready to use your Backstage account in Outlook 2016

Connecting eM Client v5 for Windows to Backstage Mail / Calendar / Contacts

You can download eM Client for free from: https://www.emclient.com/download

Upon Launching eM Client for the first time you will be prompted to add your email account.

Simply enter your Backstage credentials under “Automatic Setup”

Then click “Next”

In this pane you can enter your name, and the name you would like to use to identify your Backstage account - eM Client can handle multiple accounts.

Select which services you would like to connect to with eM Client, then click “Finish” and in a few moments your Backstage account information will be downloaded.  You can begin sending and receiving email while your account synchronizes.  You are now configured for Backstage with eM Client v5.
