harper rolled her eyes at patrickâs comment, most of them, really. âoh please, everyone is a little embarrassed when their naked, right? and people find the flaws⌠it makes paintings more interesting, but I have yet to see one that iâm not totally embarrassed by.â he was from new york. it was quite the trip, new york to florida. âiâve always wanted to go to new york. not for the food, but that would be an added bonus. youâll have to take me some day when weâre in love and married.â harper laughed and stuck her tongue out, knowing full well it wasnât likely they would ever end up as a romantic anything. sheâd never be opposed, especially with his face, but she doubted heâd be interested in her. feeling him lean against her, she giggled as she wrapped her arms around his waist, taking a deep breath of the cool, grease-filled air and took a step forward, feeling her body run into a table just as he offered to pay. âoh my god, Iâm soâŚâ turning to the table, harper was face to face with her twin, he was all but sitting in⌠gabeâs lap? âumâŚâ clearing her throat, she got herself on her feet and pushed patrick up a little, giving a tight smile to the couple? âhi, heather. not expecting⌠um, big family, this is what itâs like.â turning, she smiled at patrick, âthis is my twin, heather. and⌠best friend?â she raised an eyebrow at gabe before her eyes fell on the fries. âoh mah god, fries. Here, sit.â harper let patrick sit before she pushed him over slightly, grabbing the basket of fries and picking one up, dropping it quickly. âoh, fresh, even better. here, try these.â looking up at the 2 across from her, she took a bite of another fry, sucking in some air to cool it down before munching on the rest. âso you 2 look nice and coupley. finally pull the ass out of your stick? no⌠stick, out of your⌠well, you know.â leaning on her elbow, harper turned to patrick, âtheyâve been best friends forever. he replaces me most of the time, i swear.â picking up another fry, she waved it in the air towards gabe and heather, âthey slept together last night and heather was making this big olâ deal about it. i always told her though, gabe would probably be a good layâŚâ widening her eyes, she turned to her twin, âoh, iâm so sorry. thatâs so rude!â wrapping her arm around her art partnerâs shoulder, she leaned against him slightly, realizing that sitting made the alcohol rush to her head faster, somehow. âthis is patrick. artist in the making. i was helping him with some extraaaa credit. he did great.â she gave a big grin to patrick and bit the fry.
âoh weâre getting married now? not with the double taxes in new york.â patrick laughed as he walked into the diner. and suddenly, harper looked like she had seen a ghost for a second. âhey you cool?â he asked, just as she approached a young couple, one with a girl who almost looked exactly like her. soon to be explained her twin sister, and her best friend. âoh shit, hey!â he introduced himself, before sliding into the booth and had the fries that were offered up for him. soon he was learning all the skeletons of harperâs sister, that he probably shouldnât have been learning so soon. something about them sleeping together for the first time and it was a whole thing. patrick just sat silently as he was introduced as he shoved more french fries in his mouth. âuhh...yeah hi.â he said awkwardly, as heather and gabe stood up to leave, with her not looking exactly happy. âyeah, nice to mee you both.â he said as they ran out of the diner. âthey seem nice.â he shrugged to harper, popping another fry in his mouth. âi guess all big families fight sometimes?â maybe it was a blessing in disguise that he met harper, and maybe it was just another adventure for him to finally embark on.
