What did St Paul say about women?

Did St Paul forbid women to have authority in the Church? Or was he part of an early Christian world in which many church leaders were women?

Paul is a celebrated figure in Christianity, however, he had controversial opinions about women. One obvious example is 1 Corinthians 14:34: "Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says.” This verse contradicts with others, so it is possible that someone has written under Paul’s name. These contradictions are discussed in the article.
