" I’d like to say, first and foremost, that you should do it. Especially if you’ve made a fitness-related New Year’s Resolution, because a competition is a solid way to help yourself stay on track toward that goal."

"Growing up, I never had a strong upper body. I remember taking the Presidential fitness exam, and being completely unable to do the pull-ups prescribed, so I was given the alternative to hold myself up in a pull-up hang for as long as I could instead. I could only hold it for 7 seconds before my body shook so hard that I had to let go. Pull-ups do not come very naturally for many women, so you can only imagine why my favorite fitness accomplishment thus far has been the first day I was able to do a full pull-up."
