Don’t forget the happy thoughts. All you need is happy thoughts.

I still think about him sometimes and smile. I still thank the school, more importantly the teacher that forced us to read this book in the 3rd or 4th grade, I’m not sure. It was the perfect time to read it, with our brains just starting to mash with the world, but we had no idea that the time was ripe, we we’re kids. We ran around, breaking and shitting all over the place like how kids would be.
But this woman, who taught us English. I’m not a 100% sure but I think it was the first time she required a class she was teaching to read a book. And I can’t thank the stars enough that it happened to be our class and it happened to be this little book. This little white book was about this little prince who was stuck in the dessert.
People easily forget things in their childhood which is sad. But there are things that stick to us. This was easily one of mine, because it was one of the most defining moments for me as a person. I kind of knew I was going there, I already liked writing and reading but the book, you could say, pushed me over the edge and told me this was the answer to that awful question of what I wanted to do when I grew up.
I wanted to write. It wasn’t easy, it still isn’t, I still don’t consider myself a writer by profession after all this years, just a kid who likes to make stories up to make people like him.
Still, I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for that class and the person who taught it. I probably wouldn’t have moved to other books and authors if not for her.
Thanks.
I don’t know if you’ve read the book, but in the end the little prince’s physical form dies.
There are nights when I look up at the stars and still try to look for his planet and try to tell him that he was the first fictional character that made me cry. Thank you for that.
I am trying to live a lot more right now, because form what I have seen, nobody's stopping the things that are trying to kill me
