Long story, but stay with me... I've kept this girl a secret since Tuesday- This is "munchkin" a purebred #munchkincat (name to be changed) She came from a hoarder who kept her locked in a bathroom 24/7 probably all 5 yrs of her life.😡 When the family came in to disperse the cats to rescues and such, they didn't know what to do with munchkin because she's semi feral. They almost let her go into the woods. A rescue woman took her and through a series of people working together and transports, she ended up in the care of street cats rescue in KC. (Who I'm fostering Stella for) I was trying to avoid taking anymore in until Stella finds a home but when I picked this girl up from the vet (along with 6 other cats) to take to the rescue owners house, I couldn't leave her. I saw a challenge I couldn't pass up! Munchkin has sat in her pee for so long that her fur is stained. I've given her 2 baths already with no resistance because she's so scared/emotionless to move. The top left pic was when I first got her. Middle left- second bath. She sat under the water to be away from me😢 Bottom left video is from my @nest cam I had to set up to watch when I leave to catch if she actually ever moved. You are watching what could very well be her first steps ever out of a bathroom. Top right was yesterday morning hiding as far back in her bed that she could to be away from me. She even started hissing. I was losing hope.😕 Last night, I went down and sat by her bed and began reading cat poems-all I could think of!!😉 In between each poem I would pet her and speak gentle words of love and adoration. You can see her response to that in the bottom left video- purring and kneading her bed- and closer to me, not hidden! She purred herself to sleep.
