What is COD-A-THON 2K18?

COD-A-THON 2K18 is an event organised by several Call Of Duty fans and fanfic writers to hopefully help boost the fandom with some fantastic new content from a diverse range of writers!

At it’s heart, COD-A-THON aims to provide writers with a fun and supportive group of people all trying to achieve the same goal, which is writing a small story with some of our beloved characters, or perhaps even some new characters, to share amongst the fandom.

Everybody is welcome to participate, including new writers and old. There are no limits on word count. No restrictions on what must be included. Original Characters, Crossovers, Crack Pairings, Any Pairings and Wild AUs are absolutely welcome.

The story you write is completely your choice, and we are incredibly grateful and excited for anyone that chooses to join us.

At the end of our COD-A-THON, we will have a short few weeks where the community can vote for their new favourite story. The top four community favourites can win a prize, and all participants will receive endorsements on our blog, FUCKYEAHCODOCs.

Key Dates For The Event

COD-A-THON 2K18 will have its official start date on the 15th of December 2017.

The official end date that all participants must provide a link to their finished or WIP work by, is the 15th of February 2018.

The official polling period will begin on the 16th of February, and will run through to the 1st of March.

To register in COD-A-THON 2K18, please complete this form and submit it to us. You’re welcome to add one of these badges to your blog after registering.

Once we receive your registration, we will add you to the list of active COD-A-THON participants. This list will be visible when COD-A-THON officially starts.

Please note that you do not have to register by the 15th of December 2017. You can register anytime prior to the end of the event.

Submitting

To submit your story, please paste the link to your story in this form and submit it to us before the 16th of February 2018.

We would prefer that you post your story on your own account(s) and simply send us the link, but if you must, we can accept a submission to FUCKYEAHCODOCs.

COD-A-THON Support

The mods at FUCKYEAHCODOCs know that writing a story isn’t the simplest task and are aware that is takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears thought, time, planning, work and sacrifice. It can also be especially hard if you have nobody to listen to you and be a sympathetic ear. 

With this in mind, we are hoping to make this event quite collaborative. FUCKYEAHCODOCs will be hosting write-ins, online text chats, and encouraging participants to connect to one an other throughout the two months the event is running.Throughout this, FUCKYEAHCODOC mods will also be contactable through our blog.

Most Voted

The most popular entries of COD-A-THON 2K18 will be decided by a community poll. This is to ensure fairness for everybody.

Once all entries are received on the 15th of February, FUCKYEAHCODOCs will post a poll listing all participants, their stories and where they have been posted. The official polling period will begin on the 16th of February, and will run through to the 1st of March.

Prizes will be paid out on the 2nd of March as per the results of the poll.

Any moderators providing prizes are not eligible to win, but will be listed. Their work will be clearly identified.

[Whoever this little fucking bitch of an anon is, they can seriously come out and fight me. There are far less active roleplayers out there (like me - I’m a once in a blue moon kind of gal, ya’ll will have noticed) and roleplayers who seem to do nothing but clog the dash with OOC posts all the fucking time (a couple spring to mind, one being a mun that wrote one of the worst civilians in COD history [yes, I am still bitter over how they treated Pax]). Sara is neither of those. She is hands down the most active, involved, friendly and inclusive roleplayer there is in this fandom (and others). So all I can really think is that this arsehole is a salty as fuck POS because they’re not getting the attention they think they deserve? They’re entitled? And if that’s the case then they can doubley fuck off because nobody in RP owes anyone else anything. At all. Cracking an eyelid, Pax eyed his woman from the rec room’s couch, the cogs in his head slowly starting to turn. He had no fucking idea what a Chanel was, but he did know that she wasn’t lying. Even the pretty panties she wore - which he’d made a habit of helping her out of every chance he got - were probably worth more than he made in a week.

“... You sure you left clothes in my room, Rosie?” He drawled after a moment, smirk twitching at his lips. The threat sailed over his head. “Because there usually isn’t much fucking left of them once I tear them off you.”

A low rumble of laughter. Being a dick was in his nature - Rosie knew that. And if she stopped by his room tonight, she’d also know that her dress - after a few minutes of general confusion - had been hung up in the little alcove that seconded as his closet. Because as much as he didn’t give two shits about fashion, Pax understood how temperamental his girl could get about wrinkles in her fabric.

“Honestly, I’m not even sure why you bother turning up wearing anything at all, babe.”

Pax heard him long before he saw him - the crunch of combat boots in powder snow pervading through the stillness in the air. DELTA might have taught the old fucker how to be a ghost, but mother nature could still royally fuck your shit up any day of the week. Decorated vet or not.

This particular day of the week, the temperature was well in the negatives and Pax was at the base of a particularly lonely summit, freezing his cock off. Voice over comms. had said there were still some cowboys up on the rise - cold weather training, or some bullshit. His orders had been to sit here, holding his dick until the bastards finally came down.

It sparked suspicion, when the crunching footsteps morphed into only one silhouette. But Pax had already zeroed in on blue-tinged lips and a body heavy with exhaustion. Stalking from the shelter of his tent, the lieutenant fronted his latest pain in the arse, assessing Sandman with narrowed eyes.

A sharp, audible click was the only thing that broke the tense silence - as Pax slid open an umbrella to keep them both safe from the sleet. 

“One fucking minute, mate. That’s all you get to crawl into that tent and cheat death, because I swear to bloody God - I am not huddling with some fucking grandpa.” There was no sympathy in his gaze, just annoyance - anger. Maybe concern, somewhere deep in the depths. “Your own common sense should have told you that walking around in this shit would give you hypothermia.”

Pax had seen her from the other end of the barracks, battling the uneven ground in ridiculously high heels. Even with precarious balance, she still managed to look graceful - refusing to let the howling wind snatch away years of practiced elegance.

Without an umbrella in sight - the commanders of Shadow Company more inclined to let the poor bastards caught in this shit show drown, and then ask them why they looked like a drowned fucking rat - Pax tugged off his windcheater and stepped out into the storm. Jogging down the path, he didn’t bother announcing himself before snaking an arm around Rosie’s waist and pulling her close to him.

“What the fuck made you think today was a good day for a wet t-shirt contest?” Pax said, relying on their proximity to be heard. Raising his windcheater to protect Rosie’s very blonde, very soaked head, he nudged her towards the nearest door. “Didn’t anyone bloody tell you? Perky tits are only good when you’re not dripping snot all fucking over me.”

Senile old bastard wasn’t going to move. That much he’d figured out already, though he wasn’t all that fucking surprised. Pissing off because some cunt told you too? Pax would have thought less of him if he had.

“Harrass?” The young lieutenant drawled, his smirk turning into more of a shit-eating grin as he peered down his nose at the man. Rose had once said arrogance didn’t look good on him, though what she’d done afterwards had kind of implied that it did. He wore it like a badge of honor now, cocky and knowing that he was getting a rise out of the soldier, even if it hadn’t manifested into something particularly telling just yet. “Here I was thinking we were fucking friends. I tell you to get the fuck off my box. You say ‘no’...”

The fidgeting had drawn his gaze to start with, but had lost his interest pretty quickly. It could have been a sign of discomfort, or just as easily a sign of forced restraint. Pax kept his eyes on further up, watching for sudden movement in the places that were stock still. He doubted he’d get decked in the face, but then again, that was how he’d broken his nose the last time.

“I’ll congratulate you though, aye? Crawling out from under Price’s desk? That’s pretty fucking impressive, for someone who needs a bloody walker.” A bark of laughter, as jagged and sharp as the rest of him. “How does the fucker taste, by the way? Salty? Bitter? A little thick on your tongue?”

The wreck on the screen was nasty - a little Honda civic T-Boned by a truck ten times its size. A mother and three kids, they’d said. Now it was a mother and none. “Would have served the bitch right if she’d bit it instead.”

Drink driving was fucking stupid to start with, but drink driving with kids? Pax wasn’t a fan of small, teacup humans, but fuck it - he’d never wish the little shits dead.

You’re old, and you’ve got a… way, with the younger soldiers on base.” Pax had sat in front of her as he’d started talking, scraping his chair loudly on the floor. Crossing his arms, he glowered at her - not in the least bit happy that he was doing this. “And I need… advice.”

“…You do realize who you are talking to, yes?” Strays, she could handle. Four legged children, she could handle. Young soldiers? It’s like Pax had delivered the punchline withOut a joke for context. Still, she adjusted in her seat, leaning forward just so to better listen to her new companion, face neutral. The last thing she wanted was to poke the bear any further at such close range. “I can certainly try to help. What do you need?”

“Yeah, mate. So, I came here looking for a third nut and an elf to paddle my arse... Seriously, Mayfair. Of course I fucking know who I’m talking to. You’re like a bloody snow globe compared to the rest of us.”

Annoyed, Pax shook his head at the woman, his features darkened by an almost perpetual bad mood. Things weren’t going well. In fact, things were going quite fucking badly, and it was only her offer to actually help that managed to settle his frayed nerves.

“I need... to know...” He huffed a sigh and grit his teeth, a stress headache beginning to thrum behind his temples. “How to stop a kid... taking drugs.”

A quip about exploits with pretty young women that had made their money showing their cooch on camera rested heavily on his tongue. It was cheap, really, to bring it up at all - but it was the kind of thing that’d been boasted about when Pax was a kid, and even now, twenty-nine years later, it was still something he’d say. All fantasy, of course, because if Pax had ever actually slept with a pornstar, he sure as hell hadn’t known it. Or cared.

Rosie might have cared, though. In the way she sometimes did when stupid shit came out of his mouth.  With a shake of her head, or a roll of her eyes. Maybe a disapproving little frown on her lips, and a temporary ban of them pressing softly against his own. These were things Pax could take on a good day, when he knew it would only amuse, or mildly annoy her. But today clearly wasn’t a good day, and Pax had long since stopped trying to rub salt into her wounds.

Now, he tried to bandage them. Hands clumsy and inexperienced, his words struggling to relieve any pain. He’d never been good at soothing the hurt and making bad things go away, but fuck it if he wouldn’t try.

So, swallowing hard, Pax did.

Her cheek was soft against his own rough, calloused fingers, but his touch was light. Gentle, in a juxtaposition very few had ever witnessed. In front of him, Rosie was quiet. Her body rigid with something Pax couldn’t quiet figure out. Goosebumps were rising on her skin, as though she was cold, and he had to stop himself from pulling her closer. Wrapping her in his warmth and dragging them both under the covers.

That would be an easy out for him. To settle whatever this was with physical comfort. But he also knew that wouldn’t solve the problem, just like he knew that he couldn’t do much more than what he was doing now. Pax could only ever ask her what was wrong. Not demand, or coerce. Ask, and if she didn’t want to answer, then he’d have to deal with it.

After a long, tense silence, Rosie finally made the call - her voice uncharacteristically tired. “Cpt. Kristina Hamilton… have a history together… we were partners once…”

Somehow, Pax hadn’t expected to be cock-blocked tonight by an ex. It prickled for a moment - only a moment, to hear about a woman that had once clearly meant something to the woman he was holding. His woman. His Rosie.

Then, it was gone.

It was the smile - the small, strained smile that spoke of a vulnerability that was so unspeakably rare to see out of either of them. Pax only dared let his guard down around a few people, and Rosie did it with less so. Shit, he wasn’t even sure if she did it with anyone else. And that… that was so fucking special that he wouldn’t ruin it for the bloody world.

“… If you don’t want to shake her hand, Rosie, then fucking don’t,” he finally said, dark gaze boreing into her own. A smirk twitched at his mouth - his free hand tucking a few strands of blonde hair back behind her ear. “Spit on it. Break it. Bloody shove it up her arse - who cares. Doesn’t matter what you had. I mean, shit, maybe it matters to you, aye? That’s fine. People can fuck you sideways any day of the fucking week. But don’t let her fuck with what you have now.”

The fact that he was something she had now wasn’t something he’d dare put into words, but he’d be lying if he said his advice wasn’t a touch selfish.

“Whatever the two of you had, it’s fucking ended, yeah?” Pax almost winced as the question came out a little less rhetorical than he’d intended. Snorting at himself derisively, because he fucking knew Rosie would have picked up on that, he cocked his head to the side. “Christ, Rosie…are you sure we can’t kill her?”

“... You say that like there’s something about Rosie that isn’t fucking special.” Pax stared, unblinking, his eyes dark and almost predatory. “If I were you, I’d be bloody careful about what I said next.”

Sandman looked the fellow up and down, squinting behind reflective shades, assessing the threat level. He was, admittedly, somewhat on edge due to a recent encounter with a fellow SFOD-D fireteam, so the set of his jaw was hardly one of a man who wanted to be particularly friendly. The master sergeant clenched a cigarette between his teeth and raised a brow.

“Bit old for this shit,” he responded in a growl. “Shadow, huh?”

The man in front of him might was carrying himself like a somebody on the food chain, but that didn’t mean jack shit down here. Shadow Company promoted skill above all else, even temperament, and this was his territory. “Might want to apply some of that intellect to your common fucking sense, or has old age taken that too, aye?”

“I meant you, son,” the old man returned, the cigarette shifting to the other side of his mouth. It wouldn’t be the first time (nor, he suspected, the last) that someone would make a dig at his age. He was a bit old to be doing this shit, but he’d foolishly made a career out of this whole “special forces” schtick when he was young and dumb–and when you were in this deep, there wasn’t much backing out. At the moment, though, he was just… tired. “Jus’ waitin’ for a friend. Take your lip elsewhere.”

Feet shifting to an unspoken tempo, Pax moved just enough to capture the old soldier in his shadow, eyes darkening with threat. Intimidation 101 - the man who’d slumped down on Pax’s side of the 141-Shadow Company border probably knew it better than he did.

Comparing dick sizes was a military tradition, after all.

“If there was an age limit on anything, you’d be living out of a fucking VA office,” Pax put one hand on the wall above the soldier’s head, leaning against it in a way that could almost make their proximity uncomfortable. “Either way, mate, you haven’t got any bloody friends down here. I expect they’re across the barracks, brown-nosing Captain Price’s arse.”

Pax bared his teeth in an unfriendly smile. “You look like a desperate bastard. Maybe you should go join them?”

i love characters who are open and vocal about their anger– whether it is directed at a toxic system, person, or at an event or circumstance unique to them

what sort of man does Pax like?

[ So, Pax doesn’t really have a ‘type’ that’s different based on gender. He kind of just has one type that applies across the board, and the people he likes are typically confident, self-assured and capable of standing their ground with him. He likes people that can give as good as they get, and who know how to tell him what they want. I’ll try not to delve into the nitty gritty details [ that can be found HERE if you’re interested ] but Pax is only attracted to people he considers his equal on multiple levels. They cannot be controlling, and they cannot be passive. They have to be equal. ]
