The Asian cast of The King and I appreciation post
I always was and probably always will be super sceptical when it comes to The King And I, may it be the books, movies or the musical, for all its controversies that float around Anna Leonowens and the way the West does portray the whole story in almost all its adaptions.
Still, i have to say: The setup and costumes do look beautiful.
Golden Tree Snake - Chrysopelea ornata
Despite the common name, the attractive patterning of Chrysopelea ornata (Colubridae) is actually green or greenish-yellow on a black background. This snake is native to south and southeast Asia, and is able to glide through the air.
When threatened these snakes bite straight away. The species is rear fanged, however, the venom so mild that it does not have much of an effect on humans.
