Help my mother fight breast cancer!!!

Hello tumblr people,

this is a long shot but I’m desperate so I’d thought I’d try anyways. My mother has been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, and because of this she is not able to work and has lost her job. But you cannot assume that all troops are bad, and are rapists!!!! There are plenty of bad men in our armed forces, but there are also plenty of good. Believe it or not, there more good than bad. You just get the articles about the crappy things, not the good stuff. You don’t get the story of the sergeant who took an Iranian boy out of gunfire. You don’t get the articles on the commanding officers who call back their whole line of defense because there are children up ahead. You can’t find any stories written about the soldiers who take women out of terrible situations and who did in Iraq and Korea. Please, I have friends and family in the army which is how I hear these things. Do not shame our entire country and entire naval force, army, air force, and military in general because of the fault of other soldiers.

For the past few years I’ve been working on a project closely with several former Foster kids I know. We used to live at a group home in Northern California, called Valley of the Moon Children’s home, or VOTMCH for short.

VOTMCH has been under fire recently because we have been digging up hundreds of pages of paperwork documenting each and every abuse the staff members there have committed against the Foster Kids that have lived there, including but not limited to strip searches, sexual assaults, rapes, being denied access to a phone, being locked in rooms, verbally assaulted, and more.

We found a lawyer that specializes in cases of children being strip searched and having their constitutional rights denied, and he took on the case.

The local newspaper that serves the North Bay and Sonoma County (where VOTMCH is located) just ran an article about the “alleged” abuses, and it’s still not really gaining wind. That’s where you come in. We need more publicity. This is a government run place, and it gets $26,000 a month per child that lives in the building. At any one time it can be 40+ children living in that building. On top of the mountains of money this place rakes in, the general community supports this place because all of the abuses were kept under wraps until we started investigating. If nobody knows about what’s happening and there’s no publicity, the same abuses we’re fighting against will continue for another 30 years.

Please, all it takes is one reblog to continue this message. I need the word to spread. All of the Foster Kids that have been permanently changed by VOTMCH need this.

Hey dudes. So my mom made a Go Fund Me for me for the help of me being able to get school supplies and clothes for Senior year. My mom is unemployed and has been for a month or two now, and my dad was unemployed for about 6 months before that, so the bills were stacking up one after another. Now that my dad finally has a job again, 90% of the money is going towards those owed bills, and 10% towards food. Which means there’s no money that can help be put towards school supplies. Which is unfortunate, but I’m proud of them for trying to get the bills paid.

Then on my part, I’m very financially unstable. My job just recently cut my hours down to a minimum of 13 a week, and a maximum of 21 a week. Plus it’s biweekly pay. Then with my car, I have to take out $80 each paycheck for gas, then $180 for car insurance. And with how my job cut my hours, I’m not going to be able to fully pay my bill, or have the gas money for my car. So I don’t even have the money to put towards new clothes or supplies.

I’m not asking you guys to donate anything if you don’t want to. If you’d like to help donate, by all means go ahead. Every cent would help and I’d be most grateful for it. If you don’t want to donate, I COMPLETELY understand. All I ask is that you guys help spread this on here to help me out. Thank you guys so much.

Heaven knows I’m not the most convincing writer here on Tumblr. I’m rotten at trying to talk about things that hurt. It’s entirely too easy for me to clam up and just let painful things roll by, but I’m not going to do that this time.

Carol (scarolthespectacle), my dearest childhood friend, lost her niece a couple days ago. The little girl’s name was Sophia, and she’d just turned three on July 25th. Ken, Carol’s older brother and Sophia’s father, is trying to get funds together to give her a proper burial. There’s an investigation currently underway but, regardless of present circumstances, Sophia deserves to have this one last kindness taken care of.

Friends of the family have set up a fundraiser [here]. All proceeds, minus the fees incurred by gofundme, will go directly to Ken to the aid of putting his baby girl to rest. Each and every dollar counts. Their goal is $6,000, which is such a relatively small sum in the face of all they’ve lost.
