"You guessed correctly." Heath loved his coffee black. He was one of the very few people he knew that liked it that way. Everybody else had to add so much extra stuff.

" Hmm 'course I did." She poured the cup quickly and slid it across the counter toward him. That was one thing she couldn't mess up. A nice slide across the counter with a mug.

"Confusing you? All I'm saying is nothing is ever that simple. There's a lot I don't know about you even now Prescott, but one thing I know is that there will be something more. That's all.'

Well, thanks for the compliments I guess? Have you been in this city for long?

"I'm a waitress. It's how I get my tips." She laughed to herself as she pulled her hair back from her face. "A very long time. I grew up here and no matter how often I leave I always come back. Like a magnet. A magnet that is just horrible for me."

Well, I wish more people has that kind of thinking.

It’s nothing illegal. I promise. I’m that Morris who owns the Morris group of companies.

Morris group. A name I've heard. A smart man with a lot of money and apparently a kind face.

So, what do you do, Ms. Darcy?

I think to think of it as a necessary outlook.

Well I'm a waitress, primarily. I do a few odd jobs beside that to make money when I need it. I've never stayed in one place long enough to have a job for any lengthy period of time.

And what is it that you do, Mr. Morris?

Not my biological ones, no. My adoptive parents are great though, so I really didn’t have that great desire to find and know my real ones.

I'd like to think that maybe there was a good reason for them to give me up, but then I stopped caring. A waste of energy.

Good thing I didn't then. Not really anyway.

Well, I can’t imagine growing up with the uncertainty of a home. I’ve been adopted pretty early.

"I think this is where I'm supposed to say the pleasure is all mine."

"Nothing special… The autoshop, classes…" He shrugged taking one last drag from his cigarette before stubbing out the fire.

"Oh there's alway something more. Wouldn't believe you for a second if their wasn't." A faint smile slipped on her face as she attempted catch his gaze.
