I’ve finished L.A. Noire not too long ago and I honestly still haven’t stopped thinking about the game ever since. Although the ending had crushed me in the ripe hours of 3 am, I honestly would do it all over again.

playing la noire. my player character is questioning a jewish man whom he thinks killed this dude who was being antisemitic 2 him. man lies n my character goes (w/o my input ofc) "ur going 2 the gas chamber". two sentences later the man calls my character a goy motherfucker n i do actually agree. huh???? This is actually quite interesting to me though because at the time, and I think until the 90s the gas chamber was the method of capital punishment employed in California. So technically it's 'just accurate' but like also, contextually.

But out of game you gotta wonder right, because it's made by an Australian company and obviously they would have done their research, but it's also came out quite a long time after California A. switched to lethal injection and B. a shorter tiem after they stopped executing prisoners so probably the link to ww2 and the holocaust would have been what they expected to be bigger in people's minds? I think?

like the writers have to have been aware where people's minds would first go- which is interesting because this means they fully were like, 'no we want you to think Cole is a bigoted pos as much as he likes to claim otherwise'

Noire is fucked up. all of these people are horrible. the game often writes Phelps almost like you’re supposed to go “this is the only good one” but he’s also a huge piece of shit just in ways his partners don’t call attention to.
