โNo, yeah, sure, Iโll take over that table for you. Are you sure youโre okay?โ Stella asks with a face filled with concern. She bites her lip. โYou do know who that man is, right?โ
You slowly shake your head. โI have no idea who he isโโ
โOh mio dio!โ Stella gasps in shock. โBella, that is Mr. Jeong Jaehyun. He is a world-renowned chef. He owns five three-michelin starred restaurants in the worldโโ
โWorldโฆ renownedโฆ chefโฆโ You trail off, growing more horrified by what youโve done.
โHeโs won almost every cooking competition you could think of. Heโs a legend. Both of his parents are culinary chefs too. He started cooking when he was only ten years oldโโ She continues to hammer it into your head that the man whom you have spilled wine all over, is a living legend that cannot be messed with.
โA legendโฆ started at ten years oldโฆ won every competitionโฆโ Youโre going to pass out. You wish the world would suck you into the soil. You wish you would disappear completely. You wish you could fall into a black hole. Itโs only been the second day of your internship and you already want to go home. Hell, you havenโt even started cookingโwhich is what this culinary internship is forโand you already want to go home to your parents and cry your eyes out.
โYeah. Heโs a big deal, Y/N. But donโt worry, I got you covered. Iโll take over his table. Stay in the back kitchen and get yourself together, alright?โ Stella reassures you.
You slowly nod your head. Stella grabs the mop and leaves you in the storage room. You stand there, in complete shock and embarrassment. Looking out the small round window that peeks into the restaurant, you could see Stella placing the mop back to the side after cleaning up your mess and greeting Mr. Jeong who returns to his table. Sheโs jotting down his orders. You canโt help but feel small. You canโt help but feel miserable.
Maybe youโre not fit to be working in a restaurant. Maybe youโre not fit to be working in a kitchen.
If you canโt even handle guests on the floor, what makes you think that you could handle cooking meals in a kitchen?
Ok but like. Jaehyun radiates the most powerfully neutral vibes I have ever seen. I feel like he showed up like "I'm here to be pretty and sing and that's all ur gonna know abt me ever" and he was right. I know nothing about him. He lived in Connecticut and loved High School Musical. That's it. That's the extent of my knowledge abt the man. And you know what? Respect.
