after the initial shock of you announcing to your boyfriend that the next week or so of both your life and his, would be hell, he panics. it’s more internal as to prevent making your situation worse, but when you slip away to your shared room or nap on the couch he’s googling how to help you as fast as he can. definitely a ‘what the fuck’ when he learns all of the symptoms, has to stop himself from telling you how unfair it is– he knows you know.
“mark?!“ you call out, the noise of a door closing waking you from your nap without your boyfriend by your side. walking as quickly as you could to the living room, you let out a sigh of relief at the sight of his back profile. “oh thank god.”
“hi babe,” he says breathily, turning around to reveal the multitude of things in his arms. “sorry for taking so long, i hate when you have to wake up without me… can you tell i got distracted?”
“what’s happening right now…” you blink at him.
he releases his hold on the items, watching as they fall onto the table beside him. you can feel it, the lump forming in your throat. most of it was useless, some cute blankets even though he know you had more than enough of them, pillows, oversized shirts and nighties, at least four tubs of your favourite ice cream and far too many bags of your favourite sweets and snacks. lastly, practically hidden towards the bottom of the pile were an array of period products. oh, you think to yourself. he didn’t want to wake you.
“are you crying?! babe, no!”
such a soft soft soft worried boyfriend, has a little more knowledge going into it compared to mark. probably randomly stumbled upon some information about menstrual cycles and now he knows an almost alarming amount of random facts. still, he loves you so so much you’re his whole world and seeing you in so much pain almost brings him to tears. he hears your groaning at first, leading him to follow the noises and there he finds himself leaning against the door frame; scared to interrupt you. it’s not until he hears the soft cries leaving your lips that he practically runs to your side.
“y/n, angel, c’mere.” you do as he asks, finding yourself in his embrace, crying into his hold. “can i help? please let me help.”
“i don’t know,” you blabber out, tears covering your face and everything it touched. your boyfriend pulls away, trying his best to dry your face before pressing soft kisses to everywhere the sleeve of his jumper touched.
renjun cups your face slowly, as though you’re made of glass and it makes you smile. he’s so sweet. painstakingly sweet.
“my pretty lady,” a kiss lands on your nose. “my strong, pretty, brilliant girlfriend.” another on your forehead. “my perfect girl, hm?”
“i love you.” you sniffle, your boyfriend smiling softly at the sight of your glossy eyes. “can i have a hug? please?”
he laughs, although it comes out more like a hearty chuckle and you know he isn’t laughing at you. he nods, pulling you in once more and pulling you to lay with him.
so so so scared at first, like doesn’t want to approach you because he gets flashbacks of his sister n her mood swings but in doing so, he makes you feel even worse </3 but he sees you as something so delicate and otherworldly, so soft and is so protective of you that the last thing he’d ever want is to hurt you so he really believes he’s doing well in giving you space :(
“why are you avoiding me?” you can barely look at him. he got back to your shared apartment just moments before, a bag from your local grocery store in his hands.
“avoiding you? i was just trying to give you some space.” he clearly doesn’t pick up on the sadness in your voice as he places the bag on your kitchen table.
you know him, inside and out, meaning you could tell almost immediately that his words were sincere. with it being the second day of your period however, it didn’t matter, you were bound to cry regardless of his response. no words left your lips, the sleeves of his jumper were too long, covering your trembling hands.
he watches as you being the sleeves to your eyes, drying them. “hey, you ok?” he asks softly, quickly closing the distance between you. he frowns when you shake your head before burying it into his neck, jeno could’ve sworn he could feel his heart breaking in his chest. “baby, i’m so sorry.”
“it’s okay.” you hiccup after your words, prompting you to laugh at your body’s response. “i missed you.”
“i’m so fucking stupid,” he mutters to himself, picking you up and placing you down on the table, with ease. “please forgive me.”
“you’re not stupid, jen. i love you.” with his forehead pressed against yours, any worries the pair of you had are long forgotten about, including the ice cream he had bought you, which melted just as quick… ruining his surprise.
observing how close he seems to be with his mother, i feel like he wouldn’t be entirely clueless? he’s such a considerate boyfriend and he looks at you like you put the stars in the sky, but he would 100% forget and go back to make fun of you without realising just what it is he’s doing ?? like your relationship in general is filled with sarcasm and fake snarky comments or jokes that each of you know are untrue, haechan would never ever mean to cross the line.
“hyuck,” you call out, re-entering your shared room in your outfit for the night. “tah-dah! what do you think?” he looks up from his phone, and had you not been bleeding profusely, you probably would’ve taken him then and there. he’s in a suit, it fits him and his shoulders perfectly, his hair is longer than you remembered and the way he styled it–
“you know what i think, baby! now come on, if we’re any later we’ll miss our reservation.” he whines, like the child he is. grabbing your bag from his hold, you take a moment to inspect how the dress is hugging your figure. you look great, but turning on your side only makes you aware of your bloated stomach. it’s normal, you tell yourself, but your thoughts had already began to poison each other.
“don’t you think it makes me look bloated? i look so..”
“yeah, liked a god damn beached whale, baby.” his words are drenched in sarcasm, you know that. you know he loves you, and that he loves the dress. he bought it.
you pause your movements. “really?” your voice betrays you, breaking on the first syllable. it pulls haechan’s gaze from the time on his phone screen, his brows are furrowed with concern and he stops when the tears glaze your eyes.
“baby, what’s wrong?” he’s at your side in seconds. “angel, hey, talk to me. please.”
“do you really think that? do i really look that bad?”
“oh, sweetheart.” his voice is soft, and filled with sadness as the hand on the back of your head pushes you into his embrace. you accept his warmth, more than willingly. “i’m so so sorry, it was a stupid fucking joke. you look too good, seriously i should just lock you up,” his shoulders relax when he feels you giggle beneath him. “mhm, i’ll throw away the key too, you’re all mine!”
he cancels your reservation, instead choosing to order you every single item from the menu of your favourite restaurant and makes up for his poorly timed joke with lots and lots of kisses.
ohmygod he just knows, you wouldn’t even have to utter a word to him about it. being surrounded by women in his life, who seems close with, he’s probably the most understanding and he’s definitely the softest. he loves you inside and out, and as one of the dreamies described him he’s so comfortable, he’s definitely more vocal about what’s happening and opens more conversations about how he can help etc.
“hi pretty.” his voice is the first thing you hear after waking up from your slumber and following the smell of pancakes to find the scene before you.
“hey.” whilst playing your breakfast, he finally has the chance to take in your sleepy figure. you have his shirt on, and it’s far too big, your hair looks like you fought off ten men in the dark, and you only have one sock on. as soon he made sure the potentially dangerous, red hot-pan was out of your reach, he opened his arms and pulled you into his embrace.
a small, hmmgph sound leaves his lips as he holds you tight enough to hear your heart beating. “i got you some more of those period pills before you woke up.”
“you did?” your voice is soft, a small frown taking over your lips at his thoughtfulness. he gets it.
“mm,” he pulls away from the hug, leaving his right arm around your waist and pressing a kiss to your hairline. “of course i did, miss sleeping beauty.”
“you know i love you, right?” as soon as he leaves your aide to grab you your breakfast, you find yourself missing his warmth.
“i sure hope so, that’d be a really awkward conversation, my love.” you laugh at his wittiness, throwing your head back with joy. he smiles. “i love you too.”
soooo cocky about the fact you want and need his attention/comfortable just because he refuses to admit how it makes his heart swell. chenle is very clearly the type to pretend to be such a cold hearted person but you are the only person in the world who sees right through it. he loves the affect you have always had on him n he can’t bring himself to not give you what you want and need during the worst week of the month.
“can you please just come here?” you glare at him from your comfy position on the couch. “please?”
“you’re so obsessed with me, y/n. it’s really starting to show.” he tuts. “you shouldn’t be so dependant on me and my– are you listening to me?”
his jaw drops when he realises his replacement for cuddles is his own dog, daegal sits comfortably around your neck and more importantly there’s a smug smile on your face that he’d happily kiss off.
“hey!” his shouting startles the puppy, who turns to give her father what looks like a glare before nuzzling into you again. he actions make you giggle, and chenle can’t quite believe how much the situation is affecting him. daegal isn’t funny, he is. “nope, no, not happening, excuse me.” he picks up the puppy and places he back on her bed gently. “that’s my girlfriend, get your own!”
like a frustrated child, he can barely look at you as he climbs into the space behind you. it’s only when he wraps his strong arms around you, tugging you closer, that he says anything at all to you. “don’t do that again…. please.”
“you should do as i ask you then, hm?” he scoffs at your response, but you know he isn’t serious when you feel him place his chin on your shoulder.
“are you feeling any better?” he asks sincerely, placing a soft kiss to the skin behind your ear. “are you hungry? we can order something if you’d like. or do you wanna cry? let’s put a sad film on–“
“would you just shut up and kiss me?”
panics so badly ohmygod bless his soul, he doesn’t have a clue how to react. he isn’t stupid and he does know more than you’d think, but he feels helpless constantly. usually he has a way of making himself more noticeably helpful but knows and understands you’re in pain, just because he can’t see the difference he has on you its caught up with him :(
“ji, you do help!” you argue back, exhausted.
“how, y/n? how? i just sit back whilst my girlfriend is crying in pain and i can’t do a thing about it.”
you knew it wasn’t easy for him, it was the first time he had ever complained to you about it. “please just… hold me.” it takes a moment for your words to hit him, it was t a real fight between the two of you; but both his shoulders and his features softened at your request. in no time, his arms were around you, his lips pressing soft kisses into your hair.
“i just love you so much.” he mutters.
“i love you so so much, ji.” you sigh in response. “see? you are helping.” you pull away from his hold, and the disbelief in his eyes is telling. grabbing his hand, you place it over your heart and ask your boyfriend to close his eyes.
jisung, obviously, does exactly what you ask of him and can’t help but smile at the sound. thump thump. “you calm me down, ji. you’re like… my safe place. my home.”
he opens his eyes at your words, “that was so corny.”
"mm,” you hum, pushing yourself closer to his lips. "corny, but true." he kisses you softly, as though you'd break if he held you any tighter.
“i love you too, but i am so dizzy right now, can we take this to your bed?” your head falls against his chest and you feel it vibrate against you whilst he laughs at your response.
"c’mere, princess," with one arm behind your back and the other behind your knees, he picks you up and swiftly guides you to the bed. "nap time.”
