By which I do NOT mean I'm doing any kind of sexual content with him, he's just really stupid with romance and it takes him at least a year before he realizes he's feeling any sort of non-friend-related way.

thunderbolt — are there things that your muse would find shocking (ie a random factoid, that someone liked them, etc)?
Honestly? A lot. Ash knows he ain't exactly the smartest tool in the shed. Lots of cool Pokemon facts throw him for a loop, but he always knows how to recover fast because he lives so well in the moment.
What would shock him the most out of everything he doesn't know though? Probably any kind of realization that he, himself, might actually have feelings for someone. He knows less about romance than anything else. It's very easy for him to mistake the feelings of being in love or having a crush to instead just consider someone either really that precious, or that he was having some kind of anxiety attack or feeling sick.
He gets thrown for a complete loop when his heart flips, when someone confesses to him (in a way that even someone as dense as him can actually understand, like Serena's goodbye kiss).
I guess if you want something non-romance-related that would shock Ash to the very core, look no further than Team Rocket.
If someone told him Team Rocket had finally given up on capturing Pikachu, I think he'd turn around and get genuinely concerned. That's not like them. He didn't exactly trust them, and couldn't forgive all the damage they've done to him and Pikachu, but at the same time, he's not one to turn away from someone in need, even if they're his enemy. He's gotten to know some of the nuances of Team Rocket, despite being on opposing sides with them. He does believe, despite their persistence, that they have capacity for good. He doesn't get why they're so persistent, why they're so locked in on Pikachu. But he's seen them doing good before; he knows they're capable of it.
If Team Rocket wants to keep fighting him, he'll fight right back and match their energy. But if they suddenly lose steam, or appear before him in an absolute wreck, he'll reach a hand out to assist. Even if he gets bitten for it.

Ash was never one to pick favorites. Favorite Pokemon, favorite food, favorite color-- actually no, that one was blue, without a doubt. But otherwise, he couldn't really settle on just loving one thing above the rest.

removing the border update on images:
you'll need to use the stylus extension (chrome, firefox, opera, github), on mobile you can use this extension on firefox (extensions are not available on ios afaik)

op has done a fabulous job, but there's a way to remove the rounded border on images & stop you from opening posts up every time you click on them ( which i have found to be incredibly annoying ) .
